4K posts AC! ("AC" in this instance refers "After Crash" - the devastating WUS server crash in 2006.)
With the crash, all of our post-counts were reset to zero and all the pre-crash posts were lost forever. :-( In short, we lost a lot of valuable information and had to start over from scratch but thankfully, the WUSOF has risen triumphantly from the "(cr)ash".
Those of us who were around back then recall that much of the forum's focus had been upon the Speedmaster Professional fed by the likes of RJ and JM and us other "Speedy Nuts".
Diversity (members and watches) eventually increased AC and the forum's perspective broadened. I attribute this happening primarily to the introduction of the Planet Ocean in 2005. With the PO, there was something else exciting to talk about other than "moon, pre-moon, 321, 861, 1861" which encouraged us to explore other Omega lines and even other watch brands.
The opening of more topics increased discussion and with more discussion, came more members resulting in this forum becoming the #1 hangout for Omegamaniacs in cyberspace - or anywhere else for that matter.
I've said it before and I will say it again: what we experience here today is due largely to the gracious efforts of Ernie and his dedicated moderators, past and present, but please know that each and every one of you has contributed as well. The WUSOF exists because of you.
My thanks to everyone for making this my "watch home".
God bless you all!

Congrats on 4K posts in the "new world", John. Your insights have helped so many posters over the years.
For a Speedy nut, you sure have a lot of Seamasters now. Has SPV evolved into SeaPV? b-)

No, Alex, my first love is still my 105.012. It is the only Speedy for me. I don't need any others.
As for the Seamasters, those are tool watches that I need for all the diving I do. :-d

That's because of the photos you took of the skinning process. You're despicable.

Out of curiosity, how many posts did you have in the BC era? (Before Crash)

Time flies when you're havin' fun, Father John. I noticed you were right at 4K when we swapped thoughts the other day. Your stock is pretty high around here, my friend. And rightly so.
And I'd like to see JM around here too. And DM.
Best, John

Congrats on this milestone, Fr. John! You have been most helpful to me and I really appreciate your guidance and thought leadership on this forum. I would enjoy meeting you one day and will look you up if I'm in GA and you do the same if you happen to be in VA.
What new Omega will you be getting to celebrate this momentous occasion? :-!
Regards,
Eric

Most of you were not around to have known the RJ and JM referred to in my earlier post.
Robert-Jan (http://www.omega-addict.com/) and Jean-Michel (http://www.speedmaster-mission.net/) were early moderators of the WUSOF.
As a matter of fact, Jean-Michel designed the SPOC membership card that I have the honor of presenting.
Another early moderator was Jon in Norway who still appears on the forum from time to time.
Sorry for the confusion.

Congrats on the 4k posts, Fr John! Your contributions have been invaluable over the years and I have to say that, despite the crash, there has been a wealth of information on these forums since then that have helped many of us make informed decisions and allowed us to enjoy this great wristwatch brand.
Thanks!

Fr. John,
Out of curiosity, how many posts did you have in the BC era? (Before Crash)
Well, at my age (65), I tell people that my memory is as good as it ever was but it's a lot shorter.
I really have no idea how many posts I may have had BC - perhaps 2-3K, primarily asking questions. Remember, I was a "newbie" back then and in the learning mode. (This is not to say that I am not still learning.)
