Just received this yesterday. Used and quite broken in. My 1st Kobold, but not my last.

Sweet catch Obie,
Where did you ever find that, they hardly ever are on the aftermarket?
Wear in good health.
Kind regards, Keith

I found it over on Timezone's Sales Corner. Was actually there for over 3 months. Contacted the seller, who I bought from before, and he made me an offer I can't refuse....Full kit with box, PVD bracelet and a Zulu and Nato bands with tools...
I kick myself for not purchasing it direct from Kobold a few years ago before retail. With my law enforcement discount, I could have bought one 2 years ago new, for the price I paid for this used, which still was a great deal...
Next purchase will be the SMG-1 when it gets released!!!

I'm currently saving for a Phantom. It's a beautiful looking watch, without a doubt.
How hard-wearing is the PVD coating? I tend not to give my watches a hard time but small knocks are inevitable.

The original owner appeared to have worn it "like the Titantic was sinking", i.e. beat it up pretty good, and the PVD has held up remarkably well. There is a few spots, near the lugs where you can see the underlying metal, but that seems to have been from abuse with the screwdrivers, extreme abuse.
Other than that, the rest of the watch is holding up amazingly, and I wouldn't worry about the PVD coming off..

Beautiful watch!! I didn’t even know they made the phantom until I saw it in the DuPont Registry. I two am saving up some money but I’m not on the waiting list yet. If you don’t mind me asking where do you go about looking for a used one? And what’s a fair price on a watch like this? I like the Phantom because of the "stealth" look to it. All my cars are black including wheels so i figure a watch to match must be a good thing!
Thanks

Shawn,
I found mine on Timezone's Sales Corner, where it was posted for several months. I finally contacted the seller, whom I bought from before, and I got a great deal on it, as it came with the PVD bracelet, nato and zulu strap, along with the presentation box.
Used prices will differ depending on the seller, but they seem to be going used right around 2K, give or take a few hundred dollars either way.
That said, there are two Kobolds on this Sales Corner right now. A polar surveyor and another chronograph. I spoke with the seller, and they seem to be great buys, but alas my watch funds were already spent by the time I saw the others.
If you want a new one, there is not a waiting list.

I've been wondering how easy it is to remove links on the Phantom's Soarway bracelet? I'm afraid of doing it myself in case I cause damage. Is this something a jeweller could easily do? (I'm in the UK so there aren't any Kobold dealers I could visit.)
Having said this, the NATO strap's very tempting!

It is very simple to remove links on this watch. My version has a single sided screw head to remove the links, where the newer vesion required two screwdrivers, as the links are two pieces, with two pieces going together to lock the link in.
I would either buy a watchmaker tool kit, which can be had for under $50, or just a few eyeglass screwdrivers, which are sold in most hardware or food centers.
If you are concerned about scratching the bracelet, just make sure that you put some masking tape around the links that you are working on.

Just noticed, there's now a "naked" Phantom available!
