There is one particular eBay seller that markets many pristine, restored American vintage watches with two-tone dials, like this Lord Elgin. I don't recall ever seeing a two-tone dial on an Elgin. Anybody seen one?

Hi -
Fairly rare on Elgins, let alone Lord Elgin. I just browsed Shugart's listings of Elgins, don't recognize yours. Some were close, but nothing realy matched.
Doesn't mean that it's not legit, but it's be nicer if it were in Shugart...

I think it's a legitimate dial. Lord Elgin's were the best watches Elgin made in the late '40s / early '50s and the two tone dial was a nice styling touch back then. Remember two tone Chevys in 1955?

Hi -
Indeed there were a very large number of two-tone color faces from many, many makers, not the least of which was Gruen. :-)
In scanning the web for further info, I did see a fair number of very similiar faces, so I would dare to venture that this is indeed legitimate.
