I just ordered a Marathon bracelet for my TSAR and the description says it requires a special tool to adjust it. They recommend going to a professional.

Is this the case? From the photos it looks like it only needs a jewelers screwdriver.

You need 2 screwdrivers. They also have to fit perfectly.

This bracelet has a sort of bolt and nut costruction though the bracelet. Normally you need only one screwdriver because the screw is screwed into the bracelet.
If you turn one screwdriver, the complete bolt with nut will turn, so you have to keep this from turning.
A 3th hand is also very handy, if you have to do it alone it is best to use one screwdriver in a vice. Be carefull, you slip and scratch something very easy.

There is a special tool for this. Looks like a screwdriver an a square foot. but with a bit of patience and care it will work.

but it gets easier. It does help to have someone hold the bracelet down (or clamp it down) while you handle the two screwdrivers.
Also be aware that Marathon has started to use LocTite on the threads, so soaking in a bit of hot water initially is a good idea, as is a bit of tape on the lug ends to avoid the scratch when you inevitably slip with the two drivers :)
Voice of experience, but it is an awesome bracelet, one of my favorites.

I was able to remove links without any trouble. Lucky to have the right size screw drivers and that helped. Great bracelet. Take care, some time, and use masking tape. Good luck.

Another question for the experts: does the SAR bracelet come with extra thick spring bars? There were no spring bars included with the bracelet so I used the ones that came with the rubber deployant strap. The end pieces are slightly loose and I remember reading they should be pretty snug.
Thanks in advance,
