Howdy folks! Nice that something's back in operation. :-!

I'd appreciate reactions to the Constellation offered in this auction. I'm not so much gunning for it as trying to learn, so that I can eventually purchase a Connie in an informed way. Here it is ...

From the minimal amount I know, looks enticing. Excellent movement (561) in what looks to be excellent shape. Nice medallion. Ten sided crown. I have to suspect, though, that it's a redial. Any comments on its desirability/collectibility from others who are more Omega knowledgeable than me?

Dial has been heavily modified. The original was probably in bad shape. Not uncommon with these watches.

Movement looks clean -- this can mean one of two things. Either the watch was totally disassembled and cleaned, or it was put together from NOS parts.
My guess is that it is the former, but it's tough to know for sure.

A nice daily wearer, but many collectors wouldn't touch it.

Hope this helps,

This is a good example of the dilemma I'm experiencing. I'd bet almost 90% of the watches on ebay are at least re-dialed. But they look so much better than an original condition!

I have a '54 Seamaster that has not been touched, and two others about the same age, that have been re-done. I can barely stand to wear the '54 though, because it looks bad compared to the other two. It's not ugly, it's just kinda "dim" looking (not due to the crystal).

So, the problem is... do you just buy them untouched and lay them away, or do you mind the re-working so you can proudly wear them?

Personally, I like to wear watches from my collection occaisionally. And so with this experience, I suppose I'm leaning towards the re-worked examples. Just still not real happy about it.

Now, if we could just get the prices down on the re-dials... wait and see, that Constellation will end up selling for $700 to $800. !!! Ouch!

I do personally look for all original dials
Here is my connie from 63

And they don't have to look that bad from 54. At least not from 55, like these two
