Oh yeah, that's just like the view out of my office window that.:-(
Do I get points for recognising the canopy explosive design and guessing that's a Hawk you're flying, or am I just sad?

Hi Ron,
Yep, it's the Goshawk, which is basically (as you know) identical to the Hawk.
I was a Kingsville instructor, but I lived in Corpus. Were you ever there?

Oh yeah, I forgot you renamed it when it reached the Colonies!;-)
(Hope no-one is upset by my use of the word 'Colonials', if you are, let me know, I'll stop. I mean no offence.)

I was a Kingsville instructor, but I lived in Corpus. Were you ever there?Hi, John. Yep. I used to come down in the early/mid 90's and fly the airshow at NAS Corpus. If you were there at the time you may have seen us. "Viet Nam Warbird Tribute" by the CAF "Big Thicket Wing" out of Conroe. Nice tight Coin/Fac routine with formation work, rocket and strafing runs, ordnance explosions by the "Blastards" West Texas CAF wing, narration, "Rolling Stones" music, etc. Quite well received and appreciated by airshow enthusiasts and especially vets from my era. We often flew the "missing man" formation at the end of many of the airshows we worked around the southern U.S. Lot of fun. I miss it but at least my golf game has improved dramatically since I play so much these days. :-)
Cheers,
Ron

Oh, yeah, no problem you stinkin' redcoat! ;-)
Actually, it does not offend me in the least.
The term "colonial" is just proof that you guys are sore losers. Man, you'd think 230 years would be enough time to get over it! :-D

Oh, yeah, I absolutely love seeing Ghost squadron in action. you guys are incredible. I sit there and stare at vintage warplanes for hours, thinking about the days when you needed muscle and 20/10 Yeager-vision to fly and be successful. Radar is great, but those must have been the days!
I do airshows from time to time. Not a demo pilot but I fly them in for static displays, then usually stand by the bird and answer questions. It's really a lot of fun, but I couldn't imagine being on a circuit like you CAF guys. Always gone. Two of my friendly acquaintances, fellow LSOs, are blue angels and you wouldn't believe the schedule those guys keep. I think it would run me ragged (as it does them).
I'll raise a glass to the CAF!!
