Greetings -

I am new to watch collecting, and recently picked up this ancient Tissot. It was advertised as 1930's/40's era, 15 jewel manual wind - but not much else was provided concerning the model, production year(s), movement, or (of course) actual value. I've seen a few of these for sale, but with varying hand styles. Can anyone assist in identifying?

Many Thanks!

The serial numbers of earlier movements were incraved on the dial-side (if not you find it on one of the bridges). If you have an watchmaker available, ask him to remove the dial.

I have the Tissot-book from Estelle Fallet and could then help you to narrow down the production year with this serial number. It should be somewhere late 30s, beginning of 40s.

Can you measure the dimensions of the movement? This might help to identify it, but also have a look for some engravements near or under the balance.

Regards,

Axel

The hands make me guess it's from the 1930s, but as Axel post states the serial number will really help identify the watch.

I aggree, that it's most likely from the 30's (imho second have of the decade).
Just one more hint: most of these rectangular movements were made by Omega for Tissot.

Cheers,

Axel
