This is my 4th Breitling in the collection, and the first one that is new.
And I got it for a reason.
For about half a year now, I've been using an Omega X-33 on most of my flights. And for just as long, I've wondered if the Breitling B-1 is as good as the Omega.
Time to find out.
Since this will interest (I hope ;-) ) Breitling and Omega aficionados, and pilot's watch lovers in general, I will post my results over the coming weeks or months on the Pilot's and Military Watch Forum.

Is there anyone in the forum that doesn't have a B-1? and why the hell did Breitling discontinue it if it is so popular?
Maybe it will be back?

I am also interested in the comparison. Read a blurb that someone had done on TZ. Funny, I remember reading the Question "B-1 v X-33" posed to both the Breitling and Omega forums... how do you think each responded? :-D With 4 Breitlings, how many Omegas do you have Ron? Just trying to predict your conclusions :-D

Well, first of all I'm not looking for a conclusion in the sense that there is going to be winner.
And I just happen to own 4 Omega's as well :-) .

Okay then, sounds like it will be fair and balanced. If it only had a "flyback", or "flyout" to put the hands at either 3:15, or 8:45, so you could always read the display... maybe in the next version... or maybe not!
Congratulations again, wear it well!

Looks like the B-1 will be a modern 'vintage' collectable !.. almost everyone wants one .

I want a quarz B (or a SQ ) for the times i don't want to look after my watch . But if some mechanical comes up when I'm ready to buy a quarz you know wich one is put on hold :gold I see the q and sq watches as tools not as watches:-)

Until recently, I had both, but sold the B-1. My comparison, posted on the old Equation Of Time website, is no longer accessable.
Since I kept the X-33, you can probably figure out my preference. But it gets a little confusing when telling that I added a Chronospace and an Aerospace Avanage since getting the first two.
Summing up, I like the X-33 and the Avantage equally. The Chronospace at this point, is mostly an interesting keepsake.
Next time you come to New York, you can bring some more Ricola, I'll bring the Chronospace, and we'll have something better to eat than that mediocre pizza from last time.

Hi Alan, nice to hear from you again!
I'll let you know when I come back, and get you that Ricola!
And I finished the first part of my review. It covers all the functions these watches have to offer. Since you own(ed) both, you may have some remarks.

I'd take the B1 over the X-33 any day.

Great report and comparison Ron, i like the way you keep a very neutral POV
I must admit that Omega has never had the appeal (to me) Breitling has, but then again, I am not too crazy about the Breitlings Q's or SQ's either
looking forward to the follow up to this !
