Hello all, first time poster here. I've really been wanting a TAG for about 8 years now, but just havent been able to bring myself to pay the price. All of them that I have ever wanted have been well above $1k us.

I might go for one of the F1 series but I know I wouldnt be happy with it.

Looking through the thousands of available TAG watches, I like both the old style and new style Aquaracer automatic chrononos:

Old:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000ABMLXS/sr=1-202/qid=1142059494/ref=sr_1_202/102-8985635-2708941?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3880591&s=jewelry&v=glance

New:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000E48PFE/sr=1-326/qid=1142057233/ref=sr_1_326/102-8985635-2708941?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3880591&s=jewelry&v=glance

So I notice now that the old style seems to be on <clearance> and can be had for under $1k, in automatic and chronograph, both features I would want.

If I could get the old stle Automatic in black (not sure such a beast even exists) for under $1k I would probably save up and treat myself to it.
Here's the old one, in black, with quart movement, non automatic:

The new one is $1300 tho, and it just grates on me to think about spending over $1k on a piece of jewelry, geek that I am. =)

I bet they did make such a model, I just havent found it yet. Anyone ever see such a config? (Black, Automatic, Chronograph, old style). Hopefully I havent completely confused everyone here =)

I am fairly sure that the one you have linked to as the old Aquaracer is actually the quartz version. I know that page says it is automatic but in that picture it has a 1/10 sub dial which the automatic version doesn't have (I don't think many auomatic watches do) and the dial and hands look like the quartz version on the Tag Heuer website: http://www.tagheuer.com . The one you have as the new Aquaracer is the automatic version.

OK, that would make sense. Guess I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and get the $1300 one, if any of em. =(

Well, I'm $1300 poorer if it makes you happy! =)
