Further to a recent thread on this very subject, I just finished knocking up my own DIY macro studio. Rather than the cardboard box and tracing paper, I used:

An old dish draining rack
A £2.50 Primark T-shirt
Some drawing pins and
An old spotlight

Here's a couple of shots of my results. Whatday reckon? Was it worth the time and £2.50 spent on the T-shirt (that's now cut up)?

Fantastic first effort Mart61! Its the principles not the boxes that makith the photograph :-). Keep shooting, for that money you can have a dozen light boxes.

Many thanks for all your kind words. Below you'll find a picture of my £2.50 "studio". As you'll see, it's a bit of a makeshift affair. Still, did the job. This shot was taken with my trusty Canon Ixus 750.

The lens I used for the pictures of the Breitlings above was no more than the kit 18-55 lens that the D80 came with.

hope that, when I get another spotlight or, better still, a couple of halogen or daylight bulb spots, things will improve.
