I want to drill a new set of holes on the inside of a watch lug for the strap's spring bars inorder to move the strap closer to the case, and eliminate the gap that exist now..It would have to be a drill with a 90 degree chuck..Anyone have any ideas how this could be accomplished? I currently have a Lucien Piccard that has two holes in each lug, and by using the inner-most hole, the strap installs right next to the case with no gap..I want to duplicate this fit on another watch..Any suggestions for be greatly appreciated..Thanks..Steve

Hi,
I have also wondered how the lug holes are formed. It would be relatively simple if the holes go right through the lugs (Rolex style) - an accurate jig and a drill press or lathe would do the job.
For cases where the holes do not go right through, I speculate that they are punched or stamped before the lugs undergo final shaping/polishing. Otherwise you would need an extremely small right angle chuck to get in there. Something similar to a dentists drill, but the ones I have seen look to large to fit in close to the case.
Anyone have better information ?
Regards.
