Greetings to all,
I have recently purchased the above (my first introductry Omega!) and just noted today, whilist attempting to adjust the time on the watch, that the stem of the watch connected to crown has been broken, no longer connected to the crown:-(
I have extensively researched the web for potential resolution to the matter though to this time, no avail.
I wonder whether I should just bring it to i) Omega agent, ii) experinced watch repairer or iii) introduce myself to a skill of watch repairing!

I also wonder what will be regarded to be a expected repairing fees for same.

As mentioned above, I have this watch for less than 2 months and I am most disappointed with this situation...

I thank you all for your time in reading above and await for your comments in this matter.

First off, did you purchase the watch new, or pre-owned? If it's new, did you purchase it from an Omega Authorized dealer? If it's a new watch from an AD, then you should be able to get it repaired under warranty. If you purchased it pre-owned, many dealers will offer some sort of warranty (although not the factory warranty), and you still may be able to get it repaired at no cost.

If you purchased the watch pre-owned from someone who does not offer a warranty, then I would start with a local watchmaker to get an estimate. That will be the quickest route, to be sure. If you have a conveniently located Omega dealer, I would check with them before you commit to anything, and see what they have to say.

As for what to expect to pay, I'm afraid I can't help. That all depends on your local economy and the state of your local watchmaker:-(.

Good luck!

Oh, and congrats on being an Omega owner! (It gets a LOT better, I promise!)

Zennmaster,

I am most obliged for your propmt reply. Much appreciated.

The watch was purchased brand new, purchased via internet through well known website (similar name with the longest river in South America!). It was purchased in Japan, and was shipped to Ireland. Warranty was not stamped, though it stated that the invoice/receipt enclosed would be regarded as a same evidence.

There are few Authorised Dealers in Dublin hence shall I ascertain whether the international warraty be availed or will I be "chancing my luck"?

I love this watch so much that I would not mind paying for the repair, however due to the extreme short duration I have in my possession, I would rather it be covered under the international warranty...

You may need to work through Amazon )or whoever sold it to you through Amazon) on this. It can't hurt to ask around, but Omega frowns upon watches purchased outside of an authorized dealer, and generally will not honor the warranty. Do you have the warranty card that comes with every "authorized" Omega? If by chance you do (which would be really interesting...) you should be able to take it through the normal repair proceedures through Omega, but typically non-AD watches will not have the card and will not be elligible for factory warranty service.

It would appear that at least at the moment, Amazon is selling your watch on behalf of Authenticwatches.com. If that is the case, then you will need to contact them. They are fairly reputable from what I understand and I know they offer a warranty on their site - two years.

In short, your best bet is to contact Amazon (or the merchant selling through Amazon) and see what the proceedure is.

Best of luck!

I don't have a solution for you.

However, I am interested in getting this model. Are you able to measure the diameter of the case and post the info here?

Thanks.

Case diameter according to Omega web page is 35.5 mm

Here´s the link:

I think there's been some confusion in a previous thread over that dimension listed on the Omega website. Maybe someone better informed can chime in, but my understanding is that it is nearer 39mm, and that the website information is misleading.

PS. Just checked aforementioned thread, and its seems we are going round in circles here! :-d

thestumper,

To reply to your query, I did indeed obtained Gurantee Card with the watch and it was sold directly from Amazon.co.jp from my understanding.

Update on the progress: I have opted for option i) from above, by this I have directly contacted the AD in Dublin whom was so kind to provide me with the contact details of Swatch group offices here. Hence I was able to deal with them directly and was informed that the warranty will be valid!

It has been DHLed to UK from there for the repairs and was told that the watch should be back within 15 days. Happy days, well I'd been happier if the stem was never broken...

Thank you for your replies and comment. Long live Omega!:-!

"To reply to your query, I did indeed obtained Gurantee Card with the watch and it was sold directly from Amazon.co.jp from my understanding."

Two questions:

1) Is the card you received with the watch a RED factory Omega warranty card with hologram and stamped with the serial number of the watch?

2) If answer to question #1 is yes, then Whose name was on the Warranty card, as it is supposed to be stamped and dated by an authorized dealer to be valid? Amazon is not an authorized dealer, neither is Authentic Watches.com.

Just curious to see how the "grey" marketeers are so easily getting around Omega's policy of not selling their watches over the net.

Also, sorry to hear of your watch problems, however these kinds of things happen when dealing with grey market dealers. Its a volume get it in, and get it out business. Im sure they are not scrutinzied at all when they are received, and its a good way for an AD to pass defective watches out of their store. Good news for you is that this is a simple repair and will be covered by a warranty.

I am VERY glad to hear that it sounds like Omega will be honoring the warranty! I hope it comes back quickly and correctly, and you can enjoy the watch in good health for years to come!

As happy as I am that you are going to have your watch repaired, it certainly seems odd that Omega is willing to cover a grey market watch under warranty.

As stated above:
Warranty was not stamped, though it stated that the invoice/receipt enclosed would be regarded as a same evidence.

Really, I hate to see anyone get stuck with a damaged watch from anyone, but something strange is going on, when Omega will offer warranty service on a watch with no stamped warranty card, and that was not purchased from an Authorized Dealer.

Please keep us updated on this, Nobbie. Oh, and welcome to WUS!

I am more amazed that they are estimating 15 days! Maybe Swatch UK is that fast but I have not heard of anywhere near that here in the US. My AD tells me that I can expect "several months" just to have a watch regulated under warranty and I have read a number of posts suggesting that Bienne is no better. Hey- I've had local watchmakers take two weeks or more to repair a watch! There are several strange things here..........
Good luck- Don
