So I called one of our favorite AD's to see if per chance he may still have a 35th Anniversary Speedy,
thinking "there's no way he'll still have a new one in stock"

Well he did! :-! Great news!

Then he mentioned that he may still have a Gemini laying around too.

....and I took the bait hook, line and sinker o|

Meet the two newest additions to the family :gold

which one is gemini and which is the 35th anniv? Sorry for being so vague.

The blue faced Speedmaster is the Gemini 4, 40th Anniversay of the first space walk
and the white faced model commemorates the 35th anniversay of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Congrats. I especially love that white dial.
Any chance of buyers remorse? I mean, you called in the hopes of the AD having one, then you end up with two? I'm impressed.

I've asked that same question at an awful lot of ADs, and the best answer I ever got was "no" (the others involved some laughing!).

Congratulations!

I've been lusting after that watch for a while now, as it has my birthday printed on the dial!

Congrat! lucky guy! I remembered back then I had to choose one and after an hour or so of comparing and trying, I bought the Gemini...They were both disounted heavily back then...Now I want a 35th to go with the 40th..and found one but at an AD for $2900, I had to say noo|

Yow, well done, Russ! Why bother with the whole debate of "which one to choose?" :-d

You got yourself a very nice couple, and a friend for life in your AD. Just a guess, white on the left wrist, blue on the right?

Wear them well!

The two Speedies look fantastic. Those are hard to find models, and you got both in one day.

Congratulations!

Congrats

The 35th anniversary is the premier non-moonwatch speedy for me.

Well it better not be the favorite AD here that I work with, because I was IN his shop last week and he swore he didn't have one. He'll LOOSE my business for life if thats the case. :-x

Seriously, enjoy it! :-! And if you find he happens to uncover any more, PLEASE let me know ASAP. I actually NEED this watch - I have triplet boys and I've got a Moon and Gemini; the 35th would be the perfect third piece. I was hoping that the 50th anniversary models would be something special, but was disappointed. With prices increasing the way they are, one of the kids may have to settle for a Navitimer :-d

I just finally got around to taking a few pictures for my insurance company when I posted it here.

If I see any others available, I'll send you a PM :-)
