Chascomm, I think you may have some knowledge of this watch. I saw it but did not buy it. It is a Timex brand made in England with a Taiwan caseback, and the seller said a Japanese movement. A very strange beast, isnt it?
He asked RMB 500, too expensive IMHO for a strange watch. Any comments on this watch?

The rare Tianjin tuning fork could cost more. Sorry we lost the image of the Tianjin tuning fork watch. The seller also mentioned an early Chinese eletronic watch with a movement made of transistors!

As for the mixed origins, that is perfectly normal for a Timex. AFAIK the only Japanese tuning-fork movement was a short lived Citizen copy of the Bulova Accutron. it was produced at the same time as their Cosmotron balance-wheel transistorized watch.

As for the earlier electronic watch, I reckon that would be the Xiang Yang watch made by the Haiyuan pen factory, which you posted here some time ago.

Now what I want to see is a picture of the electric watch with external battery pack made by the Shanghai Watch Factory (external battery pack... :-D O| )

Many thanks for the information of the watches and for saving the images.
IIRC, the Tianjin tuning fork was many times more expensive than a mechanical watch. It was about the same price as a S/S Rolex. I wonder how much a tuning fork can sell on ebay now?

That eletric watch with external battery pack is no doubt one of a kind. I doubt if the factory sold any of them. :-D
