I am not familiar with too many breitling models, but this does not seem right to me. I could be wrong, what do the experts think.

Breitling Longitude, p135 Richter 2nd Ed
My guess is it was produced early '90s - !992-1993 - not sure.
Case is appears to be the same as that used for the Astromat
My gues is the price looks very fair considering the condition in the pics and that it was just serviced

It has that Astromat feel doesn't it Elliot? Reminds me a lot of it.

My understanding is that the name of this watch is Chrono Longitude - as written on the case back. It is a member of the Astromat family and is therefore just as much an Astromat as the other two members, the Chrono QP and the Chrono 1461.
The Chrono Longitude has the same movement as the Chronomat Longitude, ie the B20 which is based on the Valjoux 7752, a variant of the Val 7750.
The Chrono Longitude was available with either the wind-rose bezel (compass degrees) or a 12 hour count up bezel which I think might make more sense for most owners.
This example is the first I have seen with this dial variation; blue with gold circle and surround to the date aperture. I looked through some old catalogues and cannot find a picture of this dial.
Although the last buyer's catalogue to show the Astromat family is the 1993/94, the Chrono Longitude and Chrono 1461 do appear in the 1995 dealer Sales Handbook. Presumably the Chrono QP had been dropped by then.
I have always been puzzled by the fact that Astromats have the number "4" in the model reference where we normally see a "0" up to 1999/2000 or a "3" if COSC after that time, eg A20405.
If anyone knows what the "4" signifies I would very much like to know.
Cheers,

Just another thought - I am pretty sure all previous examples of Astromats I have seen had a special logo on the crown - does anyone else know about this? How about yours Elliot? But maybe the Chrono Longitude in the ebay listing is meant to have a plain crown; I don't know.

Hello all, this watch is up for rebid. It looks genuine to me but the gold trim around the date window and the center section looks funky to me. The seller claims that this is natural aging and the fact that the pictures are highly magnified. Do the Breitling experts on this board have any opinions on this? Thanks

Hi Alan,
The '4', I'm thinking long shot here, signifies a GMT movement. I haven't been able to do any verification of the theory, so its just that for the moment. Its the only aspect of the watch that really sets it apart and that might need flagging, say to the service department. Any theory is a good theory until validated or debunked. :-).
