What do you DRIVE!??!
I thought this would be a nice thread to let you show off your rides! Post up some pics and let us see what you got!
I'll start:
I have always loved cars (and trucks). I currently have 3 vehicles. A 2002 BMW M5, 2005 Dodge SRT-10 Ram Quad-Cab, and a 2005 Ford F-250 Crew-Cab Diesel. Here are some pics...................................

My Corvette is as ordinary as yours is extraordinary....Question. ...My drivability isn't what it could be...My old z28 was a lot/lot quicker off the line...I've been told that adding a YANK 3200 torque convertor and lower gears..2.73=>3.42 would make a big difference...Will that tear up the drivetrain or seriously undermine driving in normal slow and go situations??

I would suggest ordering an exhaust, cold air intake, and a chip/programmer. That alone will "wake" up the Vette. :-! And, it would be A LOT cheaper than gears and a torque converter!
I know that Corsa makes an EXCELLENT exhaust for the Vette. Check them out here......

Hi. A Yank 3200 and 3.42 gears would make a HUGE difference in the performance of your car and actually make it a BETTER daily driver. In normal driving, you'll get used to any minor differences in just a few minutes of driving. The difference when step on the gas will be impressive with the lower gears and will put a smile on your face. The difference when you stomp on the gas with the Yank 3200 will be astounding! B-) A 3200 stall speed converter would likely cause more "looseness" (slack in throttle response) than most would find acceptable if you stuck with those super-tall 2.73 gears, but going with the 3.42s will eliminate that potential problem. I think your plan is great and one I'm sure you'll find very satisfying. ;-)
Aftermarket exhausts, cold air intakes, programming, etc. are all good ideas and things you should do, but, though cheaper, they just are not going to give you the dramatic boost in performance that your converter/gears combo will, not by a very long shot.
Here's a list of most of my major mods.
Hurricane intake, Halltech Cobra air bridge, LS6 intake manifold, XTrooper Cam (223/227 .566/.567 112), Rapid Motorsports Stage II LS1 heads, Crane 1.80 Quick-Lift rockers & dual valve springs, ATI Super Damper, Rollmaster double roller timing chain, TTS headers, MagnaFlow exhaust/x-pipe, QTEC electric cutouts, NX wet kit, Yank SY3500 torque converter, Motive 3.73 gears, Baer EradiSpeed rotors, Z06 chrome wheels, Nitto drag radials

MG-Rover now has Chinese owners and there is talk of starting production again at Longbridge, Birmingham. Although exactly what they will produce is anyones guess :-S

This is my daily beater, 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S, 175hp 2.5L I-4. Gets pretty good milage 28mpg highway and 24 city, mixed driving about 25.8. The car is a pleasure to drive in NYC/NJ traffic, also it has enough get up and go to get out of its own way. I have invested in tons of touch of paint, I park in Brooklyn, NY and cars in NYC have really messed up rear bumpers.

The only car that I do not have pictures of is my 1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series. The only reason I do not drive this car anymore is due to its poor gas mileage 13mpg city and 19 highway. Its being moved to Florida in May.

I see you have a cam with your handle on it....I have studied the power band on my version of corvette, and, for practical purposes, you are never "on the cam" or driving where the power is....It is there in bunches over 90mph, but not at the speeds where 99% of driving happens.......I would have to tell my computer about the new differential. ..will a predator programmer do that? Oh! We don't really have cold air in Arizona...'an aftermarket device make sense anyway??? Thanks for the detailed advice...I think I'm going to do this this Fall. I had test driven the C6 which is what had created all this drivability dissatisfaction in the first place.

This is exactly what the high-stall converter and lower gears will cure. They will get and keep you in your motor's power band quicker, longer, and at a lower mph.
I would have to tell my computer about the new differential. ..will a predator programmer do that?
Yes, a Predator should do be able to do that. If you do more mods or run into any trouble codes related to your converter swap, then a "tune" via HPTuners or another PCM Editor will be necessary.
Oh! We don't really have cold air in Arizona...'an aftermarket device make sense anyway??? Thanks for the detailed advice...I think I'm going to do this this Fall. I had test driven the C6 which is what had created all this drivability dissatisfaction in the first place.
No matter how hot the ambient temperatures get, it still won't be as hot as your underhood environment, at least not on this planet. A good cold or "fresh" air intake system will always help.

Hi all! I'm new to watches but come from the world of vehicles, so this is right up my alley! ;-)
Daily driver is a 2006 Subaru WRX. 2.5L turbo flat 4 230HP/235TQ, 5 speed, symmetrical all-wheel-drive and my first ever non American made vehicle. So far, I'm totally loving it.

My "fun" car is a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass "S" W-31 Post Coupe. Original Rocket 350/4 speed M-22/12 bolt 3.91 posi rear end. I've added a few things in the way of about 392 dyno'ed horses and 410 lb-ft of torque, naturally aspirated through a Holley 750 cfm double pumper. She rides on 17x9" ROH Snypers with a 1.27" drop @ all four corners along with any array of other suspension components. What's the fun of straight line acceleration when you can't take a corner :-S She'll never be finished but I'll enjoy ever second of the journey there!

@ JakeB
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Lots of "blood, sweat, tears, and way too much $$" in the Cutlass. I used Eibach's Pro Kit lowering springs with Edelbrock IAS monotube shocks. Upgraded front and rear Addco anti-sway bars and a full Energy Suspension Polygraphite bushing kit help keep her planted. Some day, when I have money not spent elsewhere (read: on watches) I'd like to find another frame and do a rack and pinion front clip graft with a C5 (or maybe C6 by then!?) IRS setup. Right now the car easily outhandles my friend's non-stock 3rd gen Firebird which he does not appreciate in the least bit. ;-)
As for the WRX, '06 got a complete A-pillar forward redesign, going with more of a "corporate" front fascia. It's a "love it or hate it" affair with the Suby crowd. Personally, I really, really like it, although I still do enjoy the '03 - '05 frontend very much. Beyond that, I have more of an appreciation for the extra .5 litres and moving the usable torque down the powerband to around 3800 rpms! |>
How do you like your M5? That is *such* a great car!
I've seen three new 2006 M5s around Boston and have to stop myself from drooling all over them. The whole "look, I push a button and here's 100 more HP" is, you know, pretty dang cool! :-p

Hi -
I work for a company that is partially owned by the Quandt family, who owns almost 50% of BMW stock.
I get a company car. And poor me, until recently it *had* to be a BMW. Oh, the sacrifices one makes...:-D
Sorry, no pictures, but here's something better...
I've now had 3 5 series BMWs.
The first, a 528i limousine, was a fantastic high-speed touring car. When I started, my wife stayed in Freiburg and I drove down on the weekends. My best time from Frankfurt to Freiburg was 1h22m. It's about 180 miles one way. You do the math. :-)
This was the car that let me drive at 150mph on the Autobahn whenever I got the chance. This is what seperates the big German makers from everyone else: they build cars that handle at 150mph the way a Honda handles at 80mph. At 80 this kind of BMW is just getting started. I've probably got around 800 hours of 150 mph driving over the 3 years that I had this one. Dark navy blue, black cloth interior, absolutely stock (only extra was the metallic paint!), a damned fast car. My wife hated it because she would tend to speed without realizing it...
My second was a 530dt, the station wagon version, with the 3 liter diesel engine. I decided to get the diesel as I knew that gas prices in Germany were going to go WAY up, and I've been more than happy to tank up on diesel, which is about 10 cents a liter less than the SuperPlus that BMW wants you to feed their cars.
That car was "glacier green", which lasted only a couple of years as a BMW color, and made finding the car easier in the parking lots. This model had the first 3 liter diesel from BMW, and while the torque was excellent, it was not quite as fast, topping out at around 130 mph. But I didn't do those long weekend commutes anymore, so it was OK. It's getting harder and harder to find the high-speed zones on the Autobahn anyway. That particular engne did tend to consume oil, and I ended up adding oil on long trips, never more than 1 liter, but it did tend to add up over time.
The car I'm still driving right now is a 525dt. It's "only" got a 2.5 liter engine, but it was only 17HP less than the old 530dt, and I needed to stay within budget for tax purposes. What did I trade off for?
Leather interior, business package with DVD navigation system, 6-CD changer. :-)
I'll be honest: it's the perfect car. Really, it is: plenty of room to go shopping in, long-haul comfort (did I mention the heated seats, balsam for my aching back...), fantastic mileage (less than 7 liters per 100 km for a car weighing 2 tons!), very safe.
But all good things come to an end. It was the tail-end of the old 5 series, and to be honest, I'm ambigious about the new ones. So ambigious that I might not take a BMW for my next company car (we work through a leasing company now that is owned by BMW, but we are no longer required to lease a BMW).
It's not so much the external design as the internal. A colleague has one and I've driven it. I get along with the i-Drive just fine, but my wife doesn't. As a matter of fact, she hates it. Really, really doesn't like it. She'll drive in silence rather than try to use it to turn the radio on...
So what can I do?
Simple: Chrysler 300C station wagon with 3 liter diesel engine. Built in Graz, Austria from knock-down kits, and the price is outstanding. I'm waiting for the leasing company to get back to me...
Life is tough. :-!
And here are two pictures: help me decide...

I can't believe the i-Drive type systems are popping up in all the German cars. IMO, the worst thing to happen to cars in years. To sacrifice safety for aesthetics is just absurd.
I had an A6 as a loaner the last time my A4 was serviced. The biggest problem I found with that type of system is that it forces you to take your eyes off the road to do anything. On a "traditional" dash, you quickly become accustomed to the location of buttons and dials. Along with the different shapes and sizes, finding them becomes intuitive and you don't have to take your eyes off the road.
Another brillant feature of the A6 was a cryptically labeled button, high on the dash, which operated the glove box. How practical!
Now, if my cruise control could just work as well as Homer's: "Home, please."

@John F.
I too hate the style of the new 5 series, inside AND out. :-( The I-Drive is troublesome to say the least. But, the old NAV system in my M5 is not much better.
I love the 300C Station Wagon! I think the 300's lines are perfect for the "Touring" look. :gold I hear that the 3ltr Diesel is a good engine as well. I think that would be a nice choice! I am sure that your wife will like it better as well. |>

Hi -
That's my thinking as well, but she thinks the Chrysler looks like a snow plow!
Still waiting for the damn leasing company to get back to me...
I did a comparison yesterday on-line and some interesting things came up. The Chrysler offers more room with the back seats up, but less with them down. The Chrysler is also 18 cm longer than the 5...
And I loooove the Navigation system on my 5. It's hooked up the radio warnings about traffice jams, and has saved us long, long waits by navigating around the trafffic jams. Fantastic feature: tells you about 50 miles in advance that there's a traffice problem and offers to find a way around it...wherever you are! The DVD in the system covers all of Europe from northern Norway to Scotland and Ireland, down to the bottom of Italy and Spain, out to the Urals. My girls have fun having the system find out how to drive to obscure places, like a friend's address in Limerick, Ireland (the ferries are programmed in), or to grandma's house in Austria without using any highways. :-)

Hi -
It is weird. If you are someone who drives that particular car all the time, ok, you can get used to it.
But it's a car! I don't want a learning curve for a car, I did that when I was 17 and got my first license and sweated when merging onto the highway. I got enough computers in my life - 3 at the office, 5 at home, a Palm as well - and I don't need to deal with Yet Another Computer Interface Designed By Idiots (YACIDBI, a new acronym!)...

Wow I'm loving this thread! Wish we could all get together for a watch and car show. My fave is Elliott's custom van, but there's a lot of more "traditionally" nice cars as well B-).
Here's what I roll...a V8 4Runner with Goodyear MTRs and a 1990 Miata with Yokohama EVS 100s and set up for track days (of which there are none here in Kauai - this photo is from a few years back at Blackhawk Farms Racetrack in Illinois).
Keep more pix coming in. I want to go back now and ogle more....;-)
Aloha,
John

Very nice, John! :-! The Miata's are sooo much fun to watch race. You ever been to Gingerman in South Haven, MI??? I might have seen you there, years back! :-)
