Well, it took so long to get my 2 Seiko divers shipped from Japan (post about them to come) that in the meantime I got restless and picked up this Tissot PRS516 Chrono:

First impressions are of a solid, good looking, bang for buck, quartz chrono. It has some very nice touches, such as sapphire crystal, applied indices, and leather deployant racing strap. The size is absolutely perfect for me (40mm), the build quality seems excellent, and the pushers have good action. The one thing I was not sure about was the racing strap as I'd never worn one. Well I ended up loving the strap (especially with the deployant, another first for me), although it seems like it would be small for the larger-wristed. It has a very nice classic feel to it, to me it hearkens back to their vintage models.

Yes it is quartz, but I've found I'm a newly converted quartz fan, at least for chronos. I realized they seemed too bulky for my tastes in their automatic versions, plus the idea of precise timing just works with quartz. One minus: the bezel (tachy/pulse-meter) is plastic. I can live with that, after all I snagged this baby for just $162.50+shipping brand new! All-in-all, this feels like a keeper! :-)
