Pocket watches were not popular in China. Perhaps they were considered lower technology products. Earliest pocket watches such as the Qiong Hua had a no jewels clock movement inside so that it is much bigger.
The Meihualu brand (spot deer) is the best Chinese pocket watch ever made by Jilin Watch factory. It has a 17 jewels pocket watch movement. Some watches made for military and railway use had to be individually tested and hand picked from normal production runs.
Many later pocket watches used wristwatch movement, usually a standard 17 jewels movement. But this Zhongshan brand has a 9 jewels movement that are found in many Zhongshan brand wristwatches made in Nanjing.

ZhangA fascinating selection! Now I'm looking forward to winter when I can wear a waistcoat again.
I understand that the Qiong Hua was made by Diamond (or was it still Jin Sheng). Have you ever seen a small clock with the same movement?
I have a Soviet Raketa mini-alarm which has a 38mm key-wind movement. with the alarm module removed it would probably fit comfortably into a pocket watch case.

No, the Qiong Hua was made in Yang Zhou, the home town of ex-president of China , Jiang Zemin. But it is the same as the Diamond pocket watch. The Qiong Hua also has many revolutionay names such as "东方红"(the east is red), HONG QI (red flag),etc. But this one's dial has delicate patterns. |>
