Tough to beat the incredible thermocompensated Breitling SuperQuartz... :-)

Woah! Nice pic of a very nice ladies watch! :-!

Question -- does your significant other appreciate this watch for both its looks and its accuracy, or only the former? I got my wife a Citizen Exceed (no diamonds, but small and stylish) last year for her birthday. She loves the looks. She loves the no fuss (eco-drive, perp. cal., sapphire crystal). However, she's utterly indifferent about the extreme accuracy. I'll periodically check it and point out that it's only a few seconds off and she tolerantly rolls her eyes.

Does your significant other appreciate this watch for both its looks and its accuracy, or only the former? Certainly she will never have the same appreciation we have for the technology involved but that's true for anything technical; computers, HD tv's, digital SLR cameras, Boeing 777's etc., etc. That said, she does understand and appreciate value, even if her knowledge of that value has only been acquired by listening to my ramblings. LOL. She'll never spend any time researching the reason (s) for the value but at least she does trust what I tell her about technology, history, quality, etc. She knows that for the most basic purpose of a watch, a ten dollar quartz is accurate enough for her needs. In fact, she owns at least thirty "fashion" watches which she acquired over the years for various holidays and occasions. Turkey watches, Santa watches, shamrock watches, and so forth... Seems she had a different one on her wrist every day. I was always setting time and changing batteries for her. After receiving her CL as a birthday present, she has worn ONLY the CL. She says she doesn't want any other watch and doesn't want to wear any other watch. :-D She agrees the CL is absolutely beautiful and even though she wears it "hard" (in contrast to those of us who "baby" our watches) she always finds new appreciation for it when I clean it and use the Cape Cod cloth on it. Her one complaint is the rider tabs catching on some sleeves. She somewhat laments not getting a B-class (rider tabs are "imbedded" in the bezel) instead for that one reason. She certainly prefers the "looks" of the Breitling over other ladies watches. She opines that Rolex's and Omega's look "cheap" to her. The only other "nice" watch she considered was a Cartier "Tank" and only because of the rectangular shape. She is unable to wear yellow gold (skin reaction) and says that diamonds look a lot "better" set in white gold or SS than in yellow or rose gold anyway. She loves the fact that the Breitling diamonds are VVS top Wesseltons because she does have rings and bracelets which at best are G in color and SI in clarity and she knows her 4 "C's" . :-) Interestingly, I had bought an all SS Callistino (MOP dial, no diamonds) for her and traded it in on the CL. Even though she understood what I told her about the Callistino's build/technology, she felt it looked no nicer than many "mall watches". I have to agree. Long story short to answer your original question, I have to say that overall it is the "former", as you no doubt surmise anyway. :-( Thanks for listening to the overly long dissertation. :-D Cheers,
Ron

I once bought a Breitling Callisto back in the 90's sometime.

Those dog gone rider tabs snagged more threads from my pants pockets, sweaters, etc. than the law allowed. That was my biggest complaint, and even wrote Breitling a letter about it with no response.

The watch looked absolutely gorgeous. Especially the two tone Pilot's bracelet that came with it, but I eventually sold it...I guess because of the rider tabs!

It is gorgeous. It originally came with an all SS bracelet but I upgraded to the two tone for her. Seems to bring out the watch highlights better. She has never complained about the rider tabs even though the last time I cleaned it for her I had to remove a thread from underneath one of the tabs. LOL. I've heard many wearers complain about the tabs but removing them (as my wife suggested!) would diminish the Breitling "character" IMHO. Here is a shot of her watch with my B1... B-) Cheers,
Ron
