Going to take the Suunto plunge- but I can't decide on which one!!!
how big are these ?
durability?
best barometer?
I am a g-shock kinda guy -so basically big, black and indestructible would be 3 real good qualities!
Any opinions or info would be greatly appreciated!!

I would suggest having a look at the Suunto site. They have a comparison matrix that may help. If you need the HRM then the Advisor would be the best. otherwise, I would take a Vector over a Altimax. I like haveing all the data i can get!
Here is a comparison of the three models you seek. (http://www.suunto.com/suunto/main/article_1column.jsp?compare=compare)

Hello, just a small note, but few people knows this:
for people like me that are interested in the altimeter feature only and don't care of
the compass the Altimax is better than the Vector.
My Altimax/Vector/X-Lander user manual describe at page 26 par. 3.4.2 Fast Cumulative Button
This function is furnished in the Altimax model. This allow the user to check the
cumulative vertical ascent/descent in feet or meters, as well as number of runs of the
current logbook while recording ....
This is a small difference, but it was enough for me to choice the Altimax and not the
Vector. Obviously this is an old post and today the Core probably is the best choice. Anyway the Altimax (like the Vector) displays the current ascent rate (or vertical speed), while it seems that the Core doesn't have this function. I still don't own a Core but I'm a bit disappointed that the indication of the current ascent rate is missing in this new model.
