I'm not a hard core diver, more of a sailor/ reef snorkling guy. Does anyone have any opinions on these two watches? Pros/cons, personal experience?

They are VERY different watches mechanically speaking

the Omega Planet Ocean is fitted with a high end ETA movement the 2892A2 modified by Omega with the co-axial escapment , it is probably one of the best modern automatic caliber available on the market compeating with Rolex in therm of quality

the Doxa is fitted with a more common and mid range ETA 2824 wich can be found in a range of watches starting at 200 USD , Doxa focus heir efforts on the "limited run" and on the re-issue of their historical watches , they do manufacture good quality watches but could not be compared with Omega

but bare in mind that there is a BIG price difference between the two : this price difference is simply justified : in both cases you'll make a good buy

if you want something "rare" and you favour the design the doxa might be very apealing , if you favour tradition , mechanical excellence and high end quality you'll probably favour the Omega

have a good choice !
cheers

I currently have both watches, the Doxa 750T Caribbean and the 41mm Planet Ocean. Both are great watches and I only have positive things to say about both.

The Doxa is a very unique piece that you wont see that often (if at all) on anybody else's wrist, it is VERY durable and can take a lickin. If you decide on the Doxa you will have a few choices on dial color, I prefer the darker dial with the white markers and white/orange hands. I find the contrast makes the hands stand out. The SharkHunter (black face, white hour and second hand and orange minute hand) is my favorite, you also can get the famous orange face and will soon be able to get the SeaRambler which will have the silver face (not sure what color the hands will be). Even though it is a large watch (44mm), it is very comfortable on my 7 1/2 wrist, great bracelet and "retro" styling.

The Omega Planet Ocean is probably the most impressive watch that I have ever had the opportunity to own. Incredible fit and finish through out the whole watch. Classic style, solid case, great bracelet and clasp, AR coated crystal and very very accurate (currently running +/- 1 second per day). The Omega is not as large as the Doxa but feels just right on my wrist.

As Jean-michel stated, there is a fairly substantial price difference between the two watches, depending on how much you are looking to spend that may or may not make a difference. You will also be able to walk into most higher end jewelery stores and be able to see and try on the Omega (both sizes and both dial/bezel options), you do not have this option with Doxa currently.

I guess it all comes down to which watch does it for you, they are both very good watches and very reputable companies. Which ever one you choose you will end up with a great watch that will give you years of reliable performance.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Jean-Michel put it nicely...I have both an Omega Planet Ocean and Doxa 600T, they're both nice watches and I like them both but Omega is a class higher than the Doxa IMHO.

Thanks for the info... this has been one of the most knowledgable replies to my questions thus far. That is why i like this forum, everyone is first class, helpful and not in the least way snobbish. Iown expensive watches and more affordable watches, i'm not trying to be a watch snob, i'm trying to fill holes in my collection of watches that I!!! personally like and want for certain situations. Once again thanks for the informative help. :-! :-! :-!
