I have a womans antique lapel watch with provenance. It belonged to my Great Great Aunt, who was the daughter of a Governor and Senator from Mississippi and Tennessee and the wife of the first Senator from Nevada. Annie Foote Stewart died in 1902 as the first automotive accident victim on the west coast! The watch is detailed and pictured in a book called Gold and Silver Colossus on pages 226-227. It describes it as a gold, stem winding watch with intricate cobalt blue enamel, outlined with white enamel, is encrusted with a flower spray of rose diamonds. The case opens to expose the watchmakers initials "A. Gendre, Geneva". It also has the numbers 6504 and script writing "Hands". The case is scalloped and has a lovely 18K gold pin attached. She was a world traveler and spent the 1870's and 1880's in Europe.
I would appreciate any information on the maker etc. and thoughts regarding value of this piece.
Kind regards

None of your picture show. You can't post picture from your hard-drive. You must move them to a photo hosting site like Photobucket.

It is possible to attach photos if they are relatively small files. They'll show up as thumbnails. We do need to see photos but the original poster already knows a great deal about the watch - which is a piece of fine jewelry actually.
I suspect that A. Gendre was a Genevan jeweler rather than a watchmaker. The watch movement could be made by a number of fine makers. Maybe a photo of the movement will help us.
We do not give valuations for reasons outlined in our sticky note. This would be more of a question for "Antiques Roadshow" than for us.

I deal with uploading pics on email and ebay and I never have any problem. However, I do not seem to be able to provide a picture here as the uploads fail every time.
Thank you for the kind and informative responses. I apologize for not checking into the rules of posting. I will try to do better in the future.
Kind regards,

Annie Foote Stewart was the wife of William Morris Stewart, my great-grandfather's brother. I have chased all over the country researching him. I have the book you mentioned. Do you still have this watch? If so, I would like more information - as well as more genealogical information about this unique couple.
Thank you.
