Hi guys,

Because of a question on another Breitling forum, I wrote an answer but I don't want to hold you out on this one so here is the story:

IWC offered a Widget for Vista to put a Portuguese Automatic on your desktop but I still have XP so I tweaked it a bit. It uses a Javascript to activate a Shockwave object and I remembered that the Breitling screensavers are Shockwave too! So I combined IWC and Breitling and here is the result:

In XP, you can put web pages on your desktop (Desktop properties/Desktop tab/Customize Desktop button/Web tab). You can move them around and resize them too. Unfortunately, there remains a white border around the flash object.

One other thing: install the breitling screensaver on your PC, save the HTML file locally too and find the navitimer_en.swf file and put it in the same directory as the html file so you won't have to download the 3 MB shockwave file from my server all the time. The two numbers in the html file (200 and 150) are for the size of the clock. When you have saved it locally, you can alter the size here. Try to keep the aspect ratio to 4/3 otherwise the watch will become oval :-)

Breitling offers several screensavers. The one I use in the example is from the Navitimer 50th anniversary. If you choose another screensaver, the shockwave file will have another name. Look for a directory with the name of the screensaver in your windows/system32 directory, such as "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Navitimer 50th Anniversary dir" or "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Montbrillant 1903 dir". In those, you will find the swf file of your liking :)

If anybody has a good way to get the javascript to run locally or to directly put flash objects on a desktop, please let me know!

I will remove the Breitling shockwave object from my site in a few days, it's just there to show how it works...

Kind regards,

Cinq

Excellent stuff Cinq.
Would it be possible to do this using the Emergency Mission Screen Saver too?

Best wishes,

Verner

Hi Verner,Excellent stuff Cinq.
Would it be possible to do this using the Emergency Mission Screen Saver too?
I think so, it's a regular Breitling screensaver that uses a Shockwave component. Just install it and figure out the correct filename and presto!

Kind regards,

Cinq

Many thanks Cinq, got it working.
Excellent.

I doubled the size to 400 x 300 to make it easier to read......but it's working a treat.

Best wishes,

Verner

Hi Verner,

I am glad I could help. It's a pity that there's a white border around it, I haven't figured out how to get rid of that..

Kind regards,

Cinq
