This is my first solar/atomic and first steel bracelet G. I have to say that it is stunning.
Display is uncluttered, el is powerful, watch synched up with fort collins no problem, bracelet is super comfortable. It's SS but feels somewhat light.
My wrist varies between 6.75 and 7 inches during the day and this watch has nice presence, big but not gigantic. Fit and finish are amazing for this price point. Time will tell how the ion coating holds up but I'm notoriously hard on my watches, so I expect scratches.
Re: bracelet, had to remove several links, first time I've encountered spring pins holding links together (I've removed tons of Seiko links, split pins and collars, sometimes annoying). I like the idea of spring pins.
There has been some discussion as to the differences between this DA version and the Japan-only DJ (I think it's DJ). I don't own the DJ, but the DA is blacked out nicely. "mode", "adjust" etc. are blacked out, as is the letter "G" on the light button. You get a bit more color variation on the Japan model as I believe there is more grey and the EL may be a different color. I defer to the experts on this point.
Cheers
