Hello every one I was just wondering if I could get some incite on a recent problem that I have had with a Visconti Van Gogh black maxi fountain pen. I recently got my first pen that was of a decent value and after trying several out at Worldlux in Seattle I decided on a Van Gogh Maxi FP. I had the pen for about a month or so and I noticed that there was what looked like pitting or some sort of etching that would show up on the chrome plating near the nib were I hold the pen. I have never seen any thing like this and could not figure why it was the cause.

I took the pen back to Worldlux and they happily sent the pen back to Visconti to have it replaced. The pen returned back to the shop several weeks later, and I stopped in to pick it up. When I got it home I placed the ink that came with the pen into it and then proceeded to take it to school with me the next day. I used the pen for about 4 hours and when I would place it back into the case that I would carry it in I would wipe it with a microfiber cloth that has no chemicals on it, and stored it away for the weekend in my room. When I got back to it on Monday the little dots had reappear and over time they got worse. The cloth that I'm using to wipe the pen is just a normal microfiber cloth that I use on all my watches from my Panerai to my swiss army and I have no problems.

I m not sure what the cause of this is but I find it a little odd that it would happen two times. When I went back to Worldlux they were happy to take the pen back and offered to either send it back or take it back for store credit. After the nice gentlemen helped my look at some other pens in the store and suggested that I try out the feel of a Pelikan M805. After giving a little dip test and seeing how it wrote I decided to take it home with me after paying the difference in price. Both me and the salesman could not figure out why the pen would have this problem. I was wondering if any one out there has had this problem and if I'm to expect the same thing with the M805 seeing that it also has chrome on it. Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and also thank you to Worldlux for taking care of me.

Cheers, Brian
