Of course I recognize that I'm a little slow, but some one explain to me please, is the name of the watch the Sea Wolf or the Ocean Explorer. Perhaps there are 2 different up coming models?

Hi,
We were going back and forth with the right name for our first model. Ocean Explorer will be our first dive watch. USS Sea Wolf was merely a backup name in case we receive a nice letter from Rolex for using the name "Explorer"
I apologize for not being on the board recently, but I have been very very sick and I am still very sick. I will keep everyone updated shortly.
I have attached an updated version of the Ocean Explorer after taking suggestions from a professional diver, plus a very nice engraving on the case back of a diver and a ship wreckage.

Poul

Poul,
Sorry you've been sick, i really hate it when ill, there is nothing worse. You can't dive for starters!
Thanks for considering the case back. I don't know why but i really like case backs with a neat engraving or moulding on. I have mentioned before my Seiko 7S26 with its' tsunami on the rear, there is something about it that, i believe gives the watch personality.
I even managed to find a beater dive watch for my wife by Citizen that has a quality moulding of two dolphins on the back, she loves it, the watch may well only have a standard japanese auto in it but she loves the fact that when she takes it off there are these two Dolphins.
For me that is the point of an engraved / moulded case back. When you take the watch off there it is. I know some are not bothered but i don't believe it would stop any one buying the watch as it is not visible when being worn. I feel it may even make some sales over a plain back. What Eterna do with their Kontiki do and IWC with their Aquatimer are simply stunning, however i suspect this ideas would take the watch to an unrealistic price range.
Your engraving idea i really love, i know i would take that watch off and 'be' that diver. When diving i would just smile knowing that i was that diver!
Get better soon, thanks for the update.
Carl.

Although i prefer the silver bezel.
Everyone else out there uses a black bezel, the silver has more quality to it for me.

Hi Poul
First of all I wish you a speedy recovery...
Second, I am already in love with your project...the Ocean Explorer looks fantastic...the caseback would look fabulous...
Third, I would like to ask few questions:
1. Is there any chance you could update on the overall thickness of the watch, the sapphire crystal (thickness, shape) and ETA movement?
2. Are you based in the US? If so I might make a suggestion regarding the price, I believe is $700, for the people who live outside US. Would you be willing to negotiate a discount for people like us (I live in EU) who have to pay the additional VAT? It seems unfair that some people can benefit the price/quality and others cannot.
Thank you for reading

I much prefer the steel bezel too. I like what you've done with the hands. What color is the second hand? I can't be sure w/ my monitor.

Poul: thanks for posting, and we hope you feel better soon!
As for the latest drawing, I feel it is a small step backwards. When I look at the Korsbek banner photo with the steel bezel and no minute marks, it looks fresh and clean, and a departure from the run of the mill dive watches that we all own. The black bezel looks awfully busy and a bit undistinguished.
Clean and simple works better, I feel.
Thanks for listening, and I agree, the Ocean Explorer name would be great!

i agree, the black bezel detracts from the watch. if you're still sold on making the black model, think about making some in the plain SS.

Poul: Feel better soon! I agree, original steel bezel was one of the main things driving me to this watch. The black minute marked bezel looks way too busy. Also cant tell the color of the second hand. Is it orange? It might look better with the original white second hand with just a orange, red, or yellow tipping at the end. It also looks like the bezel has been changed from the Marathon inspired bezel to a coin edged bezel. Has the thickenss of the bezel changed from the original pictures? The ocean explorer and 1000M look great and the case back looks fantastic. Speedy recovery...

If the idea is to have minute markeres all the way around the bezel perhaps a Monster influenced bezel would be appropriate. I mean the dots for minute markers past 15 minute not the scalloped shape. I'd go for that for sure.
Or perhaps sell it with two bezels. I'd gladly pay more for two bezels.

Mmmmm if that is the new bezel for the watch i'm out. As i've said previously there are loads out there exactly like it, i appreciate it is the sum of the parts and i like all the other aspects but that change is a deal breaker for me......offer two bezels?

Hi Elio,
Thanks for questions and kind words. I appreciate it.
The movement is the ETA 2824-2. Specifications of the "Ocean Exploer" can be found here: http://www.korsbek.com/Ocean%20Explorer%20Specifications.doc
We are located in Seattle, WA, USA.
As far as the price and VAT goes, there is nothing that we can do. At the price that we are offering this dive watch for $700-750, we will break even with costs, etc. So for us to pay the VAT for our customers would be an additional financial costs to us, which wouldn't make sense business sense. I do apologize but there is nothing that we can do.

Hi Schmiedel,
The second hand is orange. As far as the bezel, we chose to go with the black bezel, because it is more legitimate as far as visuability goes when diving. I will see if we somehow can offer the stainless steel bezel as an option. I will keep you and everyone updated.

When you talk about the ultimate dive watch I agree with your choice of bezel with regard to diving and find my decision for the stainless version is ruled by my heart, as said i prefer the look.
If a second option could be there that would be excellent.
Irrespective i have now calmed and find myself still wanting the watch, that and my wife reminding me i am rather stupid!!

Hi David,
Thank you for the kind words.
I know that a lot of people are disappointed, but it is not always easy to satisfy everyone. I agree that the stainless steel bezel with the 15 minute indices has a nice clean look to it. However, we also have to look from a divers perspective. What is most useful for today's divers. The 60 min bezel is clearly a better choice than the 15 min one. Plus the black bezel has a better visuability than the stainless steel bezel when diving.
Thank you for your understanding and I will keep everyone updated regarding maybe adding the stainless steel bezel as an option in the near future.

Hi mcop10,
Thanks for the kind words. I am getting better.
The second hand is orange. It is still the marathon style bezel. My designer did a mistake on the drawing. It is being corrected.
As far as the bezel goes, it is not easy satisfying everyone. We are trying to make the ultimate dive watch, so sometime looks and functionality don't mix. Yes, the stainless steel bezel, with the 15 min indices have a nice clean look. However, for today's diver the 60 min indices bezel is clearly a better choice. Plus, as proven by the submitted picture by Ty, the black bezel is clearly better than the stainless steel bezel for visibility while diving.
Thank you for your understanding and questions.
Best regards,
Poul

Schmiedel, Not as bad as you think, at least Poul is considering it as an option, i am sure a few of us will be watching here with great interest. I did cool off when the bezel change was announced but even so this still looks to be a great watch.
Although.........as bezels go......i do agree that the updated version has more visibility and as a diver the minute marks are essential for clarity and accuracy over time management, minutes do matter. Would a stainless bezel not actually cover the same issues in the same way?
Can't fault a guy from trying......

Here is a vote for the black bezel. it may look a little like the the Fortis in a picture but with 20mm lugs and smaller dimensions overall, not to mention price the Fortis is not for me. I'm in for the Korsbek.:-!

Poul,
For steel bezel I think the original design was beautiful. However, I understand the practical benefit to the 60 minute indices. I have no overwhelming opinion.
However, may I suggest a compromise? Perhaps something like a Seiko Monster bezel with ticks for indices on the first 15 minutes and dots for indices after that.
With steel option, either way and I'm in, especially if you keep the orange second hand.
Jack
