Hi guys,
For the past week the first Malaysian astronaut or "angkasawan" in our local language has been at the ISS doing some experiments. It was a proud moment for the nation as we celebrate our 50 years of independence as well.
I have seen in the local newspapers that our angkasawan wears 3 watches in the ISS, 2 Fortises ( they look like a Cosmonaut Chrono and a Flieger GMT) as well as a Rolex (most likely a Submariner). I have downloaded a picture but you can't really make out the exact model but the hard copy newspapers indicates an internal ring for the 24hr mode.
It makes me treasure my ISS LE more!

Thanks for the info, you too are a Malaysian champ short of going to space for spotting the Fortis in space with our angkasawan we all love. I saw the papers this morning and was wondering what watch was Sheik Mus wearing. Thought it was a fortis flieger cosmonaut GMT. I will ask him when he is back!
Btw do keep in touch with us Malaysian Fortis WIS. Malaysians are pretty shy when it comes to talking about Fortis or watches??

Thanks.
Was wondering which Fortis he was wearing when i saw it in the newspaper. Yesterday, the logo of Fortis and Omega were in NST and looks like Fortis is not the only sponsor.
Just don't understand why the local agent is not capitalising the event to promote Fortis here.

Based on information before, Fortis is the official russian cosmonaut watch, but I am not sure of Omega now since the Appllo 13 days. Or the landing on the moon days.
The agent Citimex is Spore based but I think they do have an office here, but you are right Zen, the agent here is not doing enough justice to Fortis.

Saw the logo of Omega at the other end of the list of sponsor for the mission on NST. I was surprised seeing it and thought Fortis was the only watch sponsor.
Haven't seen any event or promotion organised by the agent. About time for them to buck up

Fortis claim that the first cosmonaut chrono, the lemania 5100 one, was worn during some duty outside the ISS in the late 90's... but any picture is available of that EVA.
I have made a deep research about to know or see what Fortis is currently issued for EVA, but I haven't see any pics or any trusted info about that.
I have write many times to Fortis, but simply they don't reply my mail.
:-|
What I have seen are some pis of astronauts wearing some Fortis over the EVA suit but only "inside" the ISS, some other pics show a Russian officer that give some cosmonauts set to a crew... but it seems a advertisement pic good for the catalogs.
BTW I have actually two Official Astronauts Chrono in my collection and I think they are very good and very innovative models, especially the B-42 model, but, I think, they have miss some detail that I think it will make perfect this watch:
• option for the countdown bezel (like they made on the 38 mm. model)
• a PVD or more modern black coated (like they made on the flieger line)
• a possibility to have with a quartz hybrid module as the X-33 (that's will be very, very useful for astronauts)
Finally, here apic of a astronauts in training that wear what it seems a B-42, this is the only pic with the B-42 digged at NASA archive...
My question is: when Fortis think to make some clarification on her rules about space watches?

He was wearing a Fortis with Lemania 5100 which is not in production many years ago. Maybe they keep the 5100s just for the astronauts or spaceflight participants. :)
