Hello all, currently I am in negotiations for my first Breitling, my dream watch for many years. However, being that it is a large investment, I would like to take as many precautions as possible. I am sure that this issue has been discussed, yet as a new member of the "fine watch world" my experience is rather limited. When purchasing a pre-owned Breitling, or another Swiss time piece for that matter, from TZ or WUS, what questions should be asked or what should I look out for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

By from a reputable dealer - check their history.
Make sure you have all the original documents (including the sales receipt).
Get it checked out by a Breitlin dealer if in doubt.
Remember if it's your first watch you want the real thing more than you want a bargain - if you're in doubt and the price looks low - walk. There are plenty out there.
Personally I would buy my first one in person. Nothing beats handling the goods first.

I'm with Brad
I saved that little extra to buy my 1st (B1) from an authorized dealer. For the additional cost I had that amazing feeling you have when it's taken out back to be correctly sized for you, then asked the really silly, "Do you want to wear it or shall I put in the box?" Question.
Actually, I put mine in the box, and teased myself on a 45 min drive home.....but it was unpacked within 2 mins of getting in the door.:-!
Also there is the warranty issue, and if you ask, you will almost certainly get some negotiation on price, almost always.
THEN you have to choose your next one......dont kid yourself.

FlyinHigh, I'm in the same situation you are. I think the other guys advice is probably the right thing to do, especially for the first one. At least if you get a new one from an AD you get full warranty and service and it's a lot safer and less hassles.

I, like you is going to purchase my first Breit as well...
I've called maybe 10 ADs to inquery and chat... my advise---do NOT buy from online sources.. reasons should be obvious, although I know there are lot of people do that, but my personal opinion is don't---at least not your FIRST watch :)
