B1 light and bezel questions

Hi everyone,

I have been looking on this one other Breitling forum for some time now and found a lot of useful information and great pictures!
But I never came across someone someone with the same questions I have, so hopefully someone here has the answers:
- I own a B-1 its manufactured in '99 A68362, I am very happy with it, but when I press the light button I hear a very high pitched noise. Are there more people who have this?

- When I rotate the bezel, the gears sound like there is dirt inside, this is specially audible after I have rinsed the watch (after I left it drying for like 20mins).

Hope someone has an answer.

All my b1s have had that high pitched whine, strangely its higher on the SQ than the earlier version. The bezels can feel a bit grindy too, constant washing them out will probably make it worse to be honest as you are washing away the lube.

The pitch noise is produced by the Lighting module capacitor when in discharging operation. the sound anyway shoudnt be so loud .
regarding the gear noise of your Bezel it well maybe The machanism is not set properly or its disligned because some furtitious impact or sand. both issues prompts you to go for service just to be on the safe side. Ask them to check the capacitor is not leaking.

My 1999 B1 has the same noise. I never noticed it until you brought it up though. I had to hold mine right up to my ear and can still only just hear it.

Have just had 30 dogs turn up on my doorstep though. :-d

Hi guys, thx for the replies, I am bit less worried now about the noise.

Although TicTacman (http://forums.watchuseek.com/member.php?u=2463) got me worried again ;) the watch was send back to Breitling a couple of months ago for a battery swap, I would assume they check for leaking capacitors... or..?

i doubt this is a leaky capacitor. i thought the battery dc voltage was chopped to raise to a higher voltage for the electro-luminescent display. what is audidle is therefore probably the chopper frequency.
