View Full Version : Are You Living Where You Want To?

When I went out for a walk by the river tonight, I was thinking that this is the first time in my life I have been able to make the choice about where I want to live. And of course I am now living where I want to.
I chose a friendly small town close to a large city in an area of Canada I have always liked. The town has history, culture and lots of natural beauty. About the only negative is cold winters but hey... I am Canadian after all. ;-)
I obviously had no choice when I was a kid growing up. Then I had to live where I went to university, and for 35 years after that I had to move where the jobs were. Now that we've retired my wife and I got to go wherever we wanted, so we chose Almonte. It's a good feeling.
Are you as fortunate as I am right now? Are you living where you want to, or where you have to?

Yes,I love Cleveland. And I remember when I could not wait for the first snow! I'm only going back a few year's ago,but now look more forward to spring, and I was born in Guelph.I'm thinking in a few year's I'd like to go to the UK, just for a short time, ride some bus's,pub crawl,go to a football game, take some photo's.Your town is what you make of it, it's all in your head. Nice pics, John. :-! The benches are in the Mall I think.
I know Guelph well as it is only 25 miles from our former home in Georgetown and my daughter went to the University there.

Not yet, well I guess 'not exactly' is closer to being accurate. After moving around quite a bit as a younger man (Chicago, Houston, Ft Lauderdale) I bought my first house about 5 miles from where grew up. I've been in it for almost 9 years now and I still like it. But I want to eventually move to the northern part of the lower penninsula of Michigan, west coast of Lake Michigan area, somewhere just south of Traverse City. Hopefully maybe in the next few years or so........

I left Cleveland in 1968 for a stint with the USMC. Never had a desire to go back. I have heard that it has improved tremendously, John. Maybe I'll visit someday. I live where I want to here in coastal South Carolina. We got it all. No plans to ever leave. Cheers, Bob

Hi Ray,I came to Cleveland via train in "57". The benches are on St. Clair ave. next to the public auditorium. Still have family in Guelph, don't know what they look like. John Wilson.

Unfortunately I am not living where I want to live :-(
I am living in southwest London but want to live in Cleveland, England.
On the Northeast coast sandwiched between industrial Teesside and the North York Moors always windy and cold even in summer. Not glamorous but it is where I would like to be :-)

I am living in the suburb of a small Canadian Prairie city. No ocean, no mountains f*****g cold in the winter and bloody big mosquitos in the summer. I live here because of work. The plusses are the cost of living is pretty reasonable, the tax structure is great so I can afford to buy the odd watch. When I retire from this job (I work for the Government) I hope to move somewhere warmer.

Well, Berlin is a very nice place to hang around but I still miss The Hague where I used to live close to the dunes:
