I try not to make these threads, but I just sold a Sumo to fund the purchase of a Squale 50 Atmos black dial and now I'm not 100% sure this is the one. Any other suggestions for spending $800 USD? I am fairly certain the Squale will end up being my choice, but are there some divers I should be considering? I'm not interested in watches over 44mm or watches that are too thick. I definitely want a black dial for this piece. Watches with bracelets are fine, but I do prefer a rubber strap.

My Doxa 600 T-Graph is on the rack so I need a little Orange for the upcoming spring/summer months. The Orange on this is more vibrant than the Doxa orange. I do prefer the more subtle Doxa Orange. This one is for when I really want to scream ORANGE is in da house!

So the family is sitting here watching TV as a huge thunderstorm is moving through. The power goes out. This is something that happens only about twice a year as the local power co is very good. Naturally we break out the candles and my green laser (heh, heh) but it also makes me appreciate the lume on my black monster that much more. I'm posting this from my phone so there's no picture as I think my family would think I've lost my mind should I take an image in the dark. Power has been out for about 20 minutes so far. It also makes you realize how dependent we are on electricity :)
Love the lume!
Cheers,

True divers know that the aqualung was invented shortly before WWII, and sport diving really didn't start to become popular until the 1960s. Therefore, the historical reign of the "dive watch" is relatively short, maybe 50 years or so, compared to other types of watches which go back centuries.

The Doxa sub is generally considered to be the first sport dive watch due to their affiliation with U.S. Divers (Jacques Cousteau) in the late 1960s. The Rolex Submariner and Deep Sea Dweller followed shortly thereafter in the early 1970s. Seiko was also an early pioneer in the dive watch industry, and Omega stepped into the fray with the first Seamaster Pro. I became a certified diver in 1974, and my first watch was an Aquadive - which at the time was the best "affordable" automatic dive watch. To my recollection, quartz had yet to be introduced to the market in the early 1970s, so automatics were pretty much the standard.

I hope to get a lively debate going here that addresses the historical significance of dive watches, and the watches that represented truly significant milestones in the evolution of the dive watch. I am not looking for nice copycat watches, but rather watches that were/are truly iconic and pioneers with regard to dive watch function and style. Therefore, the question posed by this opening post is: what are the 10 most historically significant dive watches of all time? The list should include both automatic and quartz watches since quartz divers later become a huge part of the market, and some great quartz divers have been made.I will start it off with an initial shortlist of these five:

Doxa Sub

Rolex Submariner

Rolex Deep Sea Diver

Aquadive automatic

Seiko Marine Master

Although I have been a diver for almost 40 years, I am by no means an expert on dive watches and their historical evolution. I look forward to learning from the true dive watch geeks out there.

Not sure why, but it seems that more people are using photo bucket (or one of those other browser based photo sites) for there pics lately? I know there has to be some benefit to it, otherwise people probably would not use it. However, I think it is lame. Why? Simple, I hate flipping back and forth between screens (apps) on my phone (how I typically interact with WUS). Now if I click on a pic that launches one of those photo stink Internet browser picture holding take me to another place away from here sites I just bail on the thread. Which stinks and is lame! I haven't looked at Nishant's new AP pics because of the dumb bucket. (Sorry man, the watch is so jam, tried one in Philly, and your pics are astounding, just hate being redirected.) So for those who have switched, I just want to ask, why the switch to photo bucket? What am I missing?

Disclaimer: my photo skills are horrendous and I always only take phone shots, so if I am missing something obvious I would just like to say that it's cause I'm lame. Haha

In the last few weeks I have fallen completely in love with the Tudor Pelagos. I have no idea what it is about this watch that has me, but it does. I have recently purchased an IWC Aquatimer and now its on the trading block if I can find someone that would be willing to trade me their Pelagos for it. Its kind of strange that I love the Pelagos so much because I'm really not a Rolex fan at all. In fact I honestly don't care much for the submariners or the SDs, but something about matte dial, matte ceramic bezel, and titanium of the Pelagos just has me drooling over it. :-p Who's got the Pelagos here and what do you think about it? How does it look in person and how does it wear? SHOW ME YOUR PICS...

Just wanted to share an experience that taught me a lesson.
Over the past several years I have bought and sold many watch here on the forum. My past experience has been great and have not, until now, run into a problem.
I got lazy on this one and did not look carefully at the condition of the watch when I received it. I wore it twice and felt that it was too heavy so I put it back up for sale. I advertised it as near mint as, at a quick glance, it looked it and I bought it assuming it was. The advertised condition was "very nice".
A member here bought it and quickly let me know that I had misrepresented the condition.
I then refunded his money.
Shortly thereafter, he contacted me and offered to sell it for me and send the money thereby saving me double shipping costs.
I guess the message is two-fold. First is that I need to be more careful in the future and second is that we have some really great members here.
Sorry for rambling but wanted to say thanks to Ariel!!!!!!!!!!
Been a while since I posted here but I need some suggestions. :)

I've had this Mortima which I think is awesome but I can't seem to wear it that often. I think this could be because I haven't got any nice straps for this watch. Right now I am wearing it on a used woven strap that is literally falling apart. So, do you have any strap suggestions? I know we all like pictures and threads without them are worthless!
