    1979

Another visit from the postman. But nothing you haven’t probably seen before.

I have a thing for OKEAHs and find it a challenge to pass on nice examples. I’ve been better at doing so, of late, but then I was given (?) the opportunity to add this:

An apparently unmolested first generation OKEAH (crown stamp on bridge) with small font and white lume, red font bezel and some ‘history’ etched on the caseback dating it to 1979.

And a picture with its long lost twin (it may be the OCD but the cases on these 2 examples look to be slightly different - is the case on the new arrival a bit more square?

Impressive addition and the case is definitely squarer, moreso at the top it would seem from those pics.

Very, very, nice! I think that is the most beautiful Okeah.

High quality engraving with '79 date. Do you have a translation?

As far as the case shape goes, photos can be misleading. If you have some decent calipers take some measurements, I'd be interested to know. Also, you see minor variations in some of the Vostok amphibian cases, so I wouldn't be surprised if you're getting some slight variations with the stainless 3133 cases as well. I bet a lot more of the machining was done by hand back then than it is today.

    Thanks for sharing!

Ham2, that's an absolute peach of an Okeah, my soft spot for the Okeah is on par with your "thing" for them.
I would hazard that the watch is older than the 1979 inscription, movement shot pretty please!

    Stunning nice catch..

    1979

As requested, the “money shot”, so to speak: #706 crown stamp on the chrono bridge with straight edged balance bridge and steel jumper and no obvious signs of tinkering.

Agreed its Ham2's example, I knew the watch would be older than 79' the Pallet fork bridge was changed in 77' so the movement must date from 76-77' at the latest.
the inscription does not have to have been applied when it was new. A Translation may help? Perhaps the officer retired in 79?
