Question 3133 Sturmanskie Date setting problem, please help!

Took one of my old Sturmanskie chronos (made in 1995) out and tested it yesterday. The time keeping and chrono functions are working perfectly. However, I found that the date does not change smoothly, e.g. initially the date jumped to next day at about 9:00 pm, then after manually adjusting the date to July 19th (date of yesterday). I couldn't change the date by manually turning the hands anymore, even the hour hand was moved many turns . I don't if the issue has something to do with the small wire on the date wheel and am not sure if it is an easy fix.

any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks a lot!

That wire spring is actually what moves the ring, so yes, that is probably what is causing the problem. It's most likely bent, broken or dislodged, and that may have been caused by the ring not moving freely.

Gaining access to that area means removing the hands and dial, which is not what an amateur like myself would call an easy fix. Plus, there's always the possibility that something else could get busted in the process!

Although, I guess the watch isn't much good without the date function.

Thank you so much, polmax3133!! it looks like much more complicated than I thought. I think i better send it to a watchmaker to take a look at it.
