    Fixing Strela Chronograph

There is a white 3017 Sekonda Strela with paddle hands on the bay in almost mint condition but the chronograph is broken.
The "Buy it now" price is $384 and the reserve hasn't been met at $144. Can anyone suggest how risky it would be to buy a watch like this without knowing the nature of the problem with the chronograph? Thanks for the advice.

Its listed as: "Russian USSR Sekonda Poljot STRELA 3017 Chronograph".

Not hard if you can source replacement parts.

The Poljot 3017 was made from the tooling of the Venus 150. Most parts should interchange.

Depends whats wrong with it - does the time work but the chrono no? Then worth going for it....

if the time is not working then probably broken balance staff - imposible to find and need to be remanufactured - but still worth spending the money on it.

If you do go for it - let me know - I have many 3017 parts from 3 broken strelas....

Well, this broken Strela just sold on Ebay for 370 pounds, about $600.

I was outbid at the last moment. I suppose posting the offering on this forum didn't help my chances of winning it given how sought after they have become. Still, that seems like a staggering amount of money for a broken watch in a listing where the seller doesn't even show a photo of the movement.

If you spend about 30-60 days thoroughly searching eBay.com, UK, and de, you'll like find one at a decent price.

I lucked out and won this one for only $325. It's not perfect but very nice. This one had a starting bid of $325, which I think scared away a lot of uninformed buyers.

This one sold on Saturday on eBay.co.UK for only $270 - - fully operational.

    Nice strap.
Isn't it too bulky when worn on the wrist?

I wanted to ask, have you ever considered getting watch professionally relumed?

Reluming hands is a pieceofcake job.
    What about the dial?

Because if only hands will get relumed then it would not look that nice with faded lume on the background.
I think it's definitely worth of sending a watch to a pro relumer, like Everest Watchworks.
