Funny question about Poljot vs Omega Seamaster

I love Russian watches, and I just started to collect them. Not really to collect, just have couple, and would like to have few more :)
The question is , I can buy a used Omega black, or blue Seamaster about $800-900. To compare to that watch is any Poljot can win or tight that "competition? I am looking for a Chrono, Automatic, Russian, Poljot maybe. So , I am sorry if it sounds crazy , but I know some of the Russian watch is a Masterpiece :) So compare any Russian watch ( I prefer Automatic) to this:Name: omega.jpg

Re: Funny question about Poljot vs Omega Seamaster

Always LOVED Omega's! Still do....I bought my Strela (quite by accident, as I had purchased another Poljot only to have it be malfunctioning before it even shipped).
I'm a BIG fan of the Speedmaster Chrono 'Moon Watch', and my Black Strela quite reminds of them. I've never owned an Omega, so I can't speak to how they compare at all...but I LOVE my Strela.
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said "....I drank what?"

I look inside myself and see my heart is black, I see my red door and it has been painted black. Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts, It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Close the door, put out the light. You know they won't be home tonight. The snow falls hard and don't you know? The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They're wearing steel that's bright and true They carry news that must get through. They choose the path where no-one goes. They hold no quarter.

    This is the one I have, It's a 3133 Movement. The one you've pictured has a 31681 or maybe 31682 movement, I believe...which is a 3133 with a third complication at 6 o'clock. Very nice watch!

Do note that the 3017 and 3133 are not autowind.

Not to bring down the russians, but I don't think any of them can compare to the Seamaster. That is one of my absolute favorite watches. I love my russian watches, but the only accurate comparison for me is that you can buy an awesome Strela, AND a 1967 Amphibian, with money left over, for what you would pay for the Seamaster. 2 for 1!!

Re: Funny question about Poljot vs Omega Seamaster

Hm. Complicated question. I would compare the Speedmaster with the Strela (even 3133 reissue) without a lot of hesitation. But for the Seamaster, it's not so easy. If you want a kind of replacement with all the properties of the Seamaster, you are looking for a diver watch. At least to my knowledge, the emblematic diver of the Russians is the Amphibia. But the price difference is immediately visible. The heritage of Amphibia is not less interesting, but the image is on different level. Zissou vs. Bond. well :) Have to agree with Oilers Fan - no direct replacement from Russia.
A nice "look a like" btw is that Poljot-International chrono:

But for the Seamaster, .....replacement with all the properties of the Seamaster, you are looking for a diver watch. ...the Amphibia.
The amfibia reef and seaman are modern divers that you can't really compare with the omega because of their low price point. It depends how you want to compare these watches. The Strela is a chrono, like the speedmaster. But most of us will never go diving in their watches and for the beach you can get a scuba dude off the net for the price of a case of beer. From pride and joy of ownership I think the strela leaves the omega behind. It is much more individualistic, has more character, and you don't see them on every tool that just had a raise or a bonus. Or on every dork that wants to be James Bond.

So, strela is rarer, has more personality, and is better looking. Plus for the money that you have left over you can buy another bag full of strelas, a drawer full of amphibians and a chest full of komandirskies.

I guess most of us on this forum think this way.
