    Gruen "Soviet" Watch Info?

Does anyone have any information about the Gruen "Soviet" watch shown? We're guessing they were mass produced in the 1980s or 1990s but we don't really know. The word "Soviet" appears only on the back. On the front bottom it claims to have a Russian movement and on the back it states that it is a Russian Quartz.
Also, does anyone have information about the logo on the front? Does it depict a specific branch or unit within the Soviet armed forces?
    Thanks for anything anyone knows.

Sorry, the back says "Soviet Quartz", not Russian Quartz.

Thanks, CCCP. That's way more information than I had before. I haven't been able to find a post about the version with the same face I have. Mine doesn't say CCCP and has that different logo. I don't know if that is a legitimate logo or not. I'll keep looking.

Found this old article from 1989 about the Gruen Soviets that you might find interesting.

Never seen your specific dial either, though, so sorry I can't be more helpful.

"Soviet" is not word Soviet used to mark product. It is like "American movement" which no US product will be marked with.
On the face there is something which may look from the far like VDV logo (paratroopers) but it is just silly copy if you look close
as well similarly silly copy of Pobeda medal at the back. So I think this is some Chinese thing made for tourists who want "Soviet"
    looking watch.

There was an Italian (?) Jeans distributing brand named Soviet in the same time, with a similar logo. I recently read about it looking for some trademark application.

Gruen Sovet watches were made back in 1989. Back then it is very unlikely that they would have been made in China.

The movements are definitely Soviet (Raketa, Slava or Poljot), the straps are Italian. Cases may have been made in Hong Kong. According to the press release, assembly is in the 'Far East' which almost certainly meant Hong Kong.

And the market is definitely 'tourist' or more exactly 'Soviet Chic' which was a big thing in some parts of the world back in the Glasnost era.

There have been many copies of the Gruen Soviet made since then but more recently the 'homage' makers have gone back to the inspirational source and have started imitating the Zlatoust 191ChS. And at the risk of causing a riot, I will add that I include Italian brand U-Boat in that category.
