    Help with a decision please - urgent?

    I have just bought a very nice Tonneau off a guy on the bay for £25.
    Couldn't stop myself. Shipping is virtually free <£5, but the bank wants £20 for the transfer.

    Anyway, so I think, get some more? spread the cost? He has about 70 watches up and they look to be NOS, or at least very nice condition.

    My wife wants a little POBEDA for only £8. I am thinking maybe another. Choices are;

    Albatros - either Radio Room or plain black dial?

    Plastic case Komandirskie?

    Raketa 24hr or Compass Rose?

    There are just tooooo many, but we will limit the choices to this for now.

    Opinions please. I have to pay tomorrow (Friday) so decision by then.

    Can't go wrong with the classic radio room.

    I would be very careful. Sometimes the watches just don't arrive, so I have learned to spread the risk. If buying overseas, find another payment method (OR ANOTHER BANK - THIEVING SCUMBAGS!) and avoid paying 66% and their rate for currency to them. Living both in and out of the € zone, banks are just thieves in suits. I'd rather send cash!

    I am inclined to agree with you and was only going to buy one watch off the guy to see how it goes. But I'm reasonably OK about the whole thing. At the end of the day it's £60 inc shipping if I buy all three watches, they're inside the EU, and the guy at the other end seems straight enough as far as I can tell. And the watches look good to me.

    My main objection is having to pay some thieves at the bank £20 to send the money inside the EU, and take a week to do it. I don't want to try and get the seller to change to another payment method. We don't speak the same language and I knew paypal wasn't available when I bought the Tonneau.

    Thieving stitch-up merchant bankers.

    I agree with this also. My main angle on this is that I have bought 2 Komandirskies and 3 Amphibias (and a 2-in-1; read Franken ) in the last four weeks, and I wonder if I'm starting to overdo it (is this possible?). Also I'm getting a taste for subtle dials.

    OK, time is pretty much up and I'm torn between the Radio Room and the Plasticdirskie.

    I like the Radio Room a lot and it would be automatic first choice except;

    - they can be had elsewhere for less hassle.

    - I don't fancy my chances of seeing another Plasticdirskie like this again soon.

    Thanks for all the comments so far. My thinking wasn't too clear last night and we've definately narrowed it down some. At least my head doesn't hurt as much as when it was a choice of 30 watches.

    Finished all my work for the week so unless I get any surprise jobs come up today I can kick back, relax, buy a couple of watches, and then go pay the guy.

    Time's up at noon (GMT) I think (now 11).

    PS if you like to feel broken in the morning try attaching a dial-up modem to a router 70 miles away at 1AM for a customer that has the incorrect cables and is leaving for NZ at 6AM . Feel like my brain has been passed thru a colander.

    PPS I suppose the key question is how unusual (and how nice) is a Plasticdirskie?

    Hi Krzysiek,

    I take it you know the seller in question then? The radio room is £27 for me, although I am not too bothered about trying to negotiate. And his shipping is very cheap. He doesn't seem to have any english so communication is difficult, because I have no polish at all.

    The main thing I resent is giving £20 to the bank for basically nothing. The whole bank thing is a giant hassle I could really do without, but I wanted the Tonneau and I'm a big boy now so I'll pay the money and live with it.

    Is there anything you feel I should know? I would be very interested to hear your opinion. I will hold off a bit longer before I do anything. The real deadline is 4PM GMT when it becomes too late to go to the bank.

    I dont know that guy personally, but when i wrote to him about lover price, he told that there is any problem if i take that radio room 12€ less. So maybe you should try ask him about it? I think that you shouldn't afraid, he have some feedback.
    If you PM to me and give your e-bay Id, i'll write to him, and tell that you are my cousine, and you want to get some watches form him. When he see thati 'm form poland, maybe it could help
