    Hi there from a newbie

Hi there, my boot sale addiction has slowly lead me to pick up more and more Russian watches as nobody seems interested and therefore, prices are generally extremely low.
Here you have some examples, I hope you like them and any comments or info will be welcome.

    Thanks in advance, Mario

This was made by the Slava 2nd Moscow Watch Factory. It has their famous double-mainspring calibre 2427. I love that massive case

The 23 jewel is a Luch calibre 2209 ultra-thin. It is a high quality (award winning) watch made at the Minsk Watch Factory, Belarus. Originally made by the 1st Moscow Watch Factory as 'Vympel' and later 'Poljot'.

The other, if I'm reading the '19 jewels' correctly, is a Raketa from the Petrodvorets Watch Factory near Leningrad/St Peterburg. It features the export grade calibre 2609NA with double-shockproofing. The case is better than average quality for Raketa as it features the typically Soviet 2-piece back (IMHO potentially the best orangement for sealing the back of a watch)

Re: Hi there from a newbie

Thanks so much for the comments and info guys ! it's become clear that there is some real history to these watches and a fair bit of quality too !!!
Over here you can find them for anything between $3 to $10 on boot sales, as I said, because nobody seems to be interested.
We have Sekonda watches as a well stablished low market brand in UK, and I think that's the main reason for it.

I must say, I have two of those with tha case back arrangement, and they scertainly look inpenetrable to me !!!

The dress designs really appeal to me because I am a "large watch" person and the Russians seem to be of a larger diameter of Swiss watches of the same age.

Thanks again and best regards, Mario

I have a very similar Slava, not automatic though.
That big case seems to be very rare to find.
