So, my question is -- is he really wearing a Russian watch or is it Hollywood "creative license"? I searched through the archives for Russian digital watches and couldn't find anything like it.

While I can't really comment on the authenticity of the watch in that clip, I'd be disappointed if they didn't use a real Russian...
After all, you can get real Electronika LED watches on Ebay for ~$30USD+shipping.![]()
The watch is an early Timex LCD, and a label sporting Russian letters attached to it. So, this is just Hollywood creative license. Us Seiko fans know about this with Arnold Schwartzenegger's modified H558 Seiko for the movie "Commando". Back to the Timex, Dan Akroyd's character states to his friend, "It is a Russian copy of a 1969 Timex LCD" or words to that effect. Sorry, no LCDs out until around 1973. Even LEDs did not show up until 1970. This dialogue is typical Dan Akroyd "techno-babble" that he uses with most of his movie characters. Fun movie, anyhow.
