My new (old) Russians - Slava and Cardinal?

First, the Slava, it's an automatic with day/date, and that's really about all I know about it.. any insight you guys want to offer would be great :

The Cardinal is manual and has an alarm, although I'm not 100% sure how that is supposed to function.. seems like I set it off alot while setting it... assuming I'm doing that right :) .. and from the little bit I've read, .. Cardinal was/is a Candian company that rebranded Russian watches? .. also.. what's that little circle in the case back?

The cardinal has a 2612.1 movement in it. There's lots of info around here if you just search for 2612 in this forum.
To set the alarm, pull out the upper crown and then set the alarm hand to the time you want the alarm to go off (no a.m., p.m. choice here... so no setting the alarm for more than about 11.5 hours in advance!).
Then push the upper crown in, and turn it like you'd be winding the watch. This will charge the alarm.
There's no "on" or "off" button or switch, if you wind up the alarm it's going to go off at the time that's been set.

The little button on the caseback is an amplifier for the alarm hammer, to increase the sonority and vibration of the alarm hammer when it goes off. Since you've taken the caseback off, make sure you line it back up with the hammer when you put it back on! :)

Ah, thanks for the info. I guess the alarm is just a little touchy then when it's close to the time it's set for... I was using it to annoy my project manager yesterday :) As far as the caseback button thing goes, luckily for me the caseback has that little nub on it so no mis-alignment (I hope/think). :)

Did that search as recommended.. it's amazing how many different branded watches used that exact same face style. I would have expected altering the face (a bit more) to be part of the branding effort.

The Slava has 2427 movement. It is based on 2414 movement with added day and automatic wind module. Something specific about Slava movement is that it has two mainspring barrels working consecutively. It has quick date change (with the button at two o'clock). The date can be changed only by advancing the hands (no quick set). Also it can be winded by hand.

I SERIOUSLY like that Slava with its metallic green dial! Nice catch that and if it were mine, I'd be wearing it every day

Thanks, it looks better in person than in my cell photo :) not bad at all for a $30 watch.. still need to get a band for it, I don't have anything that fits it (from a style standpoint) without poaching from my other favorites. The green is also interesting (to me) because of a rectangular darker band that cuts across the dial.

Anyway, once we get it oiled, cleaned up and I get a band in, I'll get some better photos.
