My new watch - made in CCCP

Just found this old Mockba at a local flee market - 17 jewel manual P2609 no(v)et? movement with a small crown like stamping - runs great but needs a new plastic crystal - should I be able to get & fit a new one?

    Any history,approx age.....would be appreciated
    thanks pjh

I don't know nearly as much as I wish I did, but the small lettering on the bottom indicates that the movement is a Poljot.

Yes thats a Poljot movement, the best place to try is local watch makers if anyone can source one that will fit well it would be them
Love that watch by the way...good find

It should not be a problem .Just go to a local watch repairer.I like it very much you made a good purchase there. The color combos are great the dial really pops!

This is one confused watch. Cyrillic and Latin mixed on the dial. No country of manufacture shown. Odd hands. A brand that has not been used since the 60s (the watch is clearly modern).

    I dunno. I smell fish.

I hold no big hopes for this $15 watch - I just rescued it from a flee market - however it does seem to have a Poljot P2609 manual movement - I know Mockba means Moscow City - would not CCCP (USSR) be the origin?? I'm thinking 1980's or 90's?

I think СССР on the deal is simply decorative, not meant to say "Made in USSR". Part of the reason is that it looks well past 80s, so it was either made in Russia or China.

What peaks my odd-o-meter (pun intended) is the fact that is say "mov", as in "movement" in English and right next to it "Полёт" in Russian. Plus it has no markings as to where it was made.

I'd be curious to see the movement. Do you have any pics?

PS. I know what you mean by "rescuing" a watch. Sometimes I look at eBay and I have the same feeling. It's like saving a puppy from bad owners. Even if it's a really weird mutt.
