    My Ukrainian themed watches

A pair of Boctoks - essentially the same movement in different sized cases. And a double-barreled Slava movement - Bank of Ukraine.

The larger Boctok is NOS with box and papers.

Since I'm Ukrainian heritage (born in US) I'm thrilled to have these "Ukie" watches and I'm always looking for more.

    What do you think?

A very nice beginning of a collection that you can add to for a very long time, I would imagine, and with a nice personal connection.

How about a real Ukrainian watch? I had the watch repaired and serviced. I also changed the crappy stretchy to a leather one.

Actually, both of the Boctoks I show are branded Dniepr-Boctok. The small one has that on the dial while the larger one has "DB" on the dial and Dniepr-Boctok on the passport.

The origin of this brand has been discussed in this board - for example, this thread:

    Hepl to identify this Vostok

But I don't think we've reach any conclusion regarding this brand - specifically whether it was "made in Ukraine". The movement is obviously standard Boctok, so what was "made in Ukraine"?

I like most the cadet Vostok, I think I'd wear it a lot of time. Yellow and blue is a good colour match.

But overall I think it's nice to have a theme for one's collection .
That theme can justify every acquisition, even excessive or foolish!

Did you ever find a Tarass Bulba watch? I don't know if it exists, but a watch with Tarass Bulba on the dial could be interesting, too.
I remember I've read a book about european miths, when I was a girl, where I descovered such a big Ukrainian character
Russian watches were designed to be maintained in the field by an agricultural worker using nothing but a hammer, a sickle, and some tractor grease... (phd)

I'd love a Taras Bulba watch; or one with Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Prince Askold or any number of legendary characters that I learned about in "Ukrainian school" in Chicago. But I've never seen any Soviet/Russian made watches paying tribute to these characters. If you see one on ebay, let me know
