My watched Stopped for no reason

SO i woke up this morning and my watch had stopped. I got it about 4 days ago from a thrift store and it has been working FLAWLESSLY , not loss of time or anything. So i unscrewed the pin and gave it a wind, and it started back up. That was at 10am this morning and its been working fine ever since.

This is my first mechanical watch so im very ignorant to them, so is it possible the "self winding" part of it can be broken? and if it was would it had gotten 3-4 days out of a single wind?

Here is a link to the watch in question

Looking for info on a Vostok Watch I picked Up

I'd say you've done very well so far in fairness.

Amphibias have to be pre-wound just as you would any mechanical watch then the autowind rotor keeps it 'topped up' so to speak and it won't keep going purely on daily usage without that initial charge.

You can't 100% trust an unexpensive used watch... it may have some issues and any watchmaker will ask you more than the watch is worth. If the watch proves to be unreliable either you try to fix it or you throw it away or maybe sell it as "need repair/for parts" watch.
That's the story with used cheap watches: it's just a matter of luck.

The automatic mechanism of the tough and accurate Vostok 24xx is not the most efficient out there, in my opinion, and is dependent on how much you move it around, of course, so I look at it as a way to extend the run time not as a means of eliminating hand-winding. If you think about it the rotor has to swing around and transmit its power to a small gear that winds the mainspring so it has to be geared very low to overcome the resistance of the spring. That means it will take many rotations to advance the spring wind gear even a little bit.

Paul (schnurrp) is right, the 2416 has its own little eccentricities. A service (clean and oil) may solve the problem, but you may also have a bad movement. Easily fixed, as Zenitar (eBay) will sell you a brand new movement for $40 shipped. Then you're still only $45 in the watch and 'ahead of the game' still. Good luck with it!
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said "....I drank what?"

I look inside myself and see my heart is black, I see my red door and it has been painted black. Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts, It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Close the door, put out the light. You know they won't be home tonight. The snow falls hard and don't you know? The winds of Thor are blowing cold.

What CCCP said. Or just give it a bit of a wind every day. No biggie.

I never pre-wind any auto watch that I own. I give it 5 winds to get the second hand going, set the time and let the auto winder do the rest. That's what it's there for. I never fully wind an automatic watch before I wear it. The Vostok can handle being hand wound every day but some other automatic movements out there like the ubiquitous ETA 2824-2 can't handle that.

In my experience, even when sitting behind a desk most of the day the autowinding system of the Vostok 2416b should be able to wind the watch from practically unwound to full power reserve in under a day.
