    Newcomer here!

    Hello!

I am wearing my first ever automatic Russian watch =). First automatic watch, AND it happens to be Russian.

Vostok Amphibila... it was something like $40! Yay. I'll post a pic up soon (I hope it's real or whatnot... but I think it is... I put it down for several hours and it stopped. I picked it up and started wearing it... and it's been ticking overnight! Woo!)

I stumbled across it while buying a Russian lens (I'm a photographer). Now I've fallen into a whole new world of watches.... I am in love.

Automatic watches are a thing of beauty, and I want to start buying some more =)

My friend introduced me to FORTIS. I know it's not Russian, but after staring at his for a while, it makes me want an AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH.

I think I want a Volmax Poljot Aviator Automatic Chronograph Watch.... but it's YIKES $1,100..... eep.

Maybe I'll deal with the mechanical ones for now....

    //edit:

There ya go. Wow. Shooting jewellery is hard! Purple fringing everywhere! Eep. Forgive me please, I shoot fashion.... wahahaha.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations for your new Amphibia.
That's a version with "almost tonneau" case, not very diffused among the Russian watch enthusiasts. Nice dial by the way
It's an excellent first watch to start to explore the world of the Russian timepieces.

Hello Ms. Michele! I am a complete watch newbie so I don't know what "almost tonneau" means haha. I am glad I chose an excellent watch!

I don't think I will collect many watches. I will save up for two more watches. One real nice one for formal events (I'm eyeing a Rekord or Romanoff... do those have lush histories?), and an automatic chronograph to replace this Amphibia for everyday usage!

Hm... do all Russian automatic chronograph watches use swiss movements? I would like to keep it as "russian" as possible =)

Automatic Chronograph: Poljot watch AviatorAutomatic Chronograph Aviator watch [7750/0655883B]

Formal Automatic: Automatic watch "Rekord". [2764/808-1-41] or maybe Automatic watch "Rekord". [2766/801-1-71]

Mr. Michele, i'm not a woman "Tonneau" is a type of case with round edges and "hidden" spring bars, but does not matter, you will learn more with the experience.

All the Russian-made chronographs are hand-wound. The automatic chronographs have Swiss ETA movements.

"Rekord" is a Russian brand, but the movements are made in China.

Where can I find more history on my Vostok? I don't want to be completely clueless if somebody asks me about it =)
