    Re: Questions regarding Russian watches

At the risk of life, limb, etc, I have to be honest and speak my truth. I think Komandirskies are the ugliest watches made anywhere in the world. Please throw no tomatoes. But so many people love them that it comes back to the recent saw of "what ever floats your boat". I love the classic Luch 2209 slim. Ive shown my collection so many times theres no point now. I really wish they were steel. The chrome that I prefer, is crummy and if I wear my Luch for more than a few hours I am bound to lose some chrome. Sadly I dont think they would work design wise, stripped to brass, so lousy chroming, it is. I have seen a few steel cases in the last few years. Just saw one marked 'foreign' on the back. I have never paid more than 50 bucks for any soviet watch, even a rare Luch color variant. Usually and thankfully they are much cheaper. I think I paid under 10 bucks some years ago for a little old Svet with an incredible black, elaborate, guilloche dial. I think its interesting to buy watches from all over the world. I havent done such a great job of it but fair. I got so caught up in Soviets with their incredibly diverse design and color sensibility that they almost equal the American and Swiss in my collection. Ive forgotten the rest of the questions, but I answered what I could remember, so that will be my 2 kopecks for the night. P&P

Waiting patiently for the arrival of a 090660m Amphibian (from Meranom). First ever Russian watch.

We'll, I'm not known for having much patience and regulated anyway. It is somewhat a challenge comparing to swiss due to positional deviation in rate. I observe the same in at least lower tiers Seiko. I did manage to get it to +2 daily average when worn around the clock.
We'll see how it does overtime. I didn't buy it for it's quality or good looks, but mostly sentimental reasons and have no regrets so far. I did replace bezel and original bracelet. New bezel is closer to 40mm, but I wish lugs with was 20mm. I do like the look so far though.

I agree. Still, eye of the beholder though. Good day.
