A rare pearl: Raketa 2209 ultraflat

At last, i was able to snag this treasure for a very low price. The Raketa 2209 was produced in a very limited quantity, mainly for small pocket watches. This is the third wristwatch with this movement that i see in four years.

The movement was excellently described by Andrei Babanin on his webpage (http://www.horology.ru/articles/tz2.htm) , and it has a very distinctive layout. In spite of his bad reliability fame, it works perfectly and keeps excellent time. As usual, i can't read the inscription on the caseback

Pics from the seller (good) and from me (bad ).

This watch used to belong to an Interior Affairs Ministry worker(most likely to a cop) at the city of Zjdanov( has been given back its historical name of Mariupol after SU collapse. Hope this helped. Cheers, Greg.

Congratulation Michele You've found indeed the rare pearl!!!!

Did you find it by chance or was you seeking for one in particular?

I found it by chance (although i was already aware of the existence of that watch), and i was very surprised by the fact that nobody bidded on it (the auction was very visible)

The curious fact is that one week before, i found another watch like that, in worser conditions (scratched dial). I recognized it simply seeing the case, there was no pic of the movement...but i forgot to bid and that watch went unsold. So this one was a great second chance!

Kreesa, thank you very much for the information!
