    Ratnik Waterproofness

I have been wondering why the project watch Ratnik, (which I love by the way!) has a waterproof rating of 20m, as to my untrained eye the watch construction looks to be exactly the same as a Vostok Amphibia which is good for 200m depth. It's certainly not a problem to me, but I just wonder what the answer is. Thanks

I once asked Emil about it. He said that the Military specification was 20m WR. But, as you said, the construction should be the same as on other Amphibias, so i think it will survive washing hands

I was wondering the same thing after a buyer withdrew his offer on my civie ratnik because of the 20m wr.
Its just a rebranded and coated 060 Vostok, construction wise identical.

I think they just skip the 200m WR test to save a few bucks.

    Re: Ratnik Waterproofness

As Comrade Schlumpf said, acording to Emil the waterproof rating is stamped at 20m because the Army specification requires this 20m rating and only this rating to be displayed on the caseback
Whereas the Naval Ratnik spec required a 100m stamp to be displayed

I have the Army issue and the Naval issue and apart from case colour the case finish apears to be very similar,so I think the real WR should be similar in use

Yes Comrades. Bureaucrats cannot understand that if a watch is 200m WR it is also 100m WR and indeed 20m WR as well, while the opposite need not be true.

On another note, Comrade joecool, does your naval Ratnik have the ultra quick date change feature there were rumors about?

Apparently there were a few prototype quick set movenents produced but they proved unreliable and required further development, whether this has been followed up is anyones guess?
