    Is this a real "Kommandierskie"..?

    Hi :)

I have bought a watch on the German E-Bay and now i am puzzled because, even after some searching, i can't find any picture of a Kommandierskie that looks like mine.

The watch is apparently un-worn and in mint condition. I am not a collector but i liked this one and it was cheap.

I have taken two pictures (sorry i have only a mobile phone camera) which i hope are good enough to see if i got a real watch or some fake.

    It's not automatic but hand-wind.

    Kind regards.....

That is a new production Komandirskie. That is why it doesn't look like most of the others you see around here. I have one of those as well. See the similarities?

    Thank you very much :)

It is indeed very similar. I am glad to know that i got a real one :) Now a question - are these good watches? Because when i wind it the crown is all loose and wobbly, like it's about to fall off... and the "glass" seems to be plastic? Are these waterproof at all? (the crown is screwed on like on a diver's watch)

It is only my second Russian watch, the first being a "Molnija" pocket watch that is broken and i don't know where to get spare parts for.

Apart from those i only have two Seiko "5" Automatics (i wear them every day, alternating) and a whole bunch of Casio digital ones, i used to collect those many years ago :)

    Kind regards......

The crown is supposed to be wobbly like that, nothing wrong there. and the crystal is plastic, acrylic actually. Try not to scuff it, but if you do, you can usually polish it out. (a nice thing about acrylic crystals). As for waterproof? I don't trust mine past a handwashing, but I'm always nervous about that kind of stuff.
