HI
Can anybody suggest any Russian / East Bloc mechanical watches that have a GMT hand? The Vostok is not a true GMT due to inability to set the hand to a different time from the rest of the watch.
Thanks.

AFAIK real GMT in russian watch industry, was and still is, only in plans. Also please note you are referring to Vostok-Europe which is lithouanian and totally different factory from Vostok (Boctok)!

just above sea level
They were still part of the Soviet Union for 46 years and do use Vostok (Vostok Chistopol) movements in all their watches.
VE (Vostok Europe) did have a real GMT watch planned for release, named after the Gaz limousine. I think there was even a thread on WUS about it, perhaps started by Irina?
Not sure what happened... They had it at a watch show, but then it never eventuated.
According to the original thread, it was supposed to be ready in autumn of 2006. Shame it has not came about, I really like it.![]()
I can't seem to find that original thread. I wanted to bump it to see if anyone had any news.
I think the forum should start intense lobbying towards vostok for them to finalize (maybe) and release this baby (I'm talking of the movement of course)
edit: maybe a hostile financial take-over in the true proletarian style...
