    Three vintage arrivals

Postie dropped these off yesterday. From seller "rarity club" who has a few dubious watches but also a few good ones. Watcha think?

The square Luch is a watch that does not benefit from being projected as big as a campervan. It looks really good in RL. The Saturns often seem redialed on the bay but I am pretty optimistic on this one. Same for the signal with the big roman XII.

I like that Luch graphic, DolleDolf. I almost bought one just like that. The Saturn is almost in the Sturmanskie class as far as rare and expensive. I hope yours is authentic. I believe the original crystal had a bubble. The Signal should not have that alarm hand. I believe it should be straight and end at the first set of ticks which is for setting the alarm, four fifteen minute divisions per hour. Thanks for sharing! I should have some arriving to share and run the gauntlet before too long.

Indeed, all of the signals that I see with an inner scale have the short straight hand, the ones with an outer scale have the longer hand, sometimes a snake sometimes straight.

This is the only exception that I have seen

From Mark Gordon, a short hand with an outer scale.

Then I did however see this one on Dmitry's russian watch collection. It is a somewhat strange watch, a dial that seems more at home in a gold case, but it has a long snake hand and a short alarm scale. In fact, looking closely again, this one may well have received a new set of hands. The hands are shinier than the indices. Still if this collector puts it up, something must be right ...... right? I remember when I purchased the watch that I saw one on one of the usuall reference sites that was quite similar to mine with breitling hands... of course now I can't find it to save my life ....

The saturn is of course a little different from the one on Mark's site. Different dial, different hands. Still, the amount of patina on the dial and hands make me think that if this is a redial it is an older one. It lacks the in-your-face freshness of my Volna redial what this one obviously - to me now but not at the time - has. Agreed about the bubble on the crystal. I would not have recognised it had you not pointed it out. The hands on my Saturn certainly look like shturmanskie hands to me.

Good points, good pictures (replacement crystals are not a deal-breaker), but I believe your "exception" proves that no one is perfect.
My Saturn constructed from two watches to be somewhat authentic:

    Re: Three vintage arrivals

Stumbled across this interesting thread as well-that you actually participated in Paul. (don't know why I went to goole, might as well have stayed on this site )

    Saturn - authentication comments please

i think both the saturn and even ths signal look fairly believable. Any restos or repairs were probably done quite some time ago. Certainly acceptable for a daiy wearer vintage watch not necessarily applying for a prime location in watch museuem. Although with a burgeoning collection the term "daily" is a bit of a misnomer. One day every 3 months???

I will take some more detailed pictures with a real camera at home. Thx for looking!

Nice work on those old saturns BTW!
